If you want a *glamorous career*, run far away from Public Relations. 🏃♀️💨 But if you want to earn your stripes in the eye of the storm over and over and over and over to infinity? 🌪️ PR just might be your bag. This is the way ✊ #publicrelations
Do you think this will ever change? or just get worse as the speed or media gets faster and faster?
haha yes people always think its glamorous, until I tell them over the years, I've had to pick up rubbish, location scout in the rain, and trespass angry protestors amid a few of the less fun things in the name of work.
I have A LOT of white hair for this exact reason. But can't stop, won't stop: If it's your calling, it's your calling!
Having a supportive manager and team definitely helps, especially when you're a one-person band like myself :)
It takes a special breed indeed.
Parry Headrick yes indeed. Yesterday I was rolling calls for a large conference while also hand delivering swag/press kits to my media connections for a separate event. Not glamous but effective!
Haaaa.... brilliant!
Glamorous is kind of subjective. I've been able to travel to over a dozen countries (mostly to staff booths at gaming conventions), so that has been amazing. That being said, coordinating all of the logistics for an international show is definitely a lot of work and pressure.
Maybe there is a kind of glamour in a job well done! Lots of those moments in PR, though tons of difficulties too. I've watched as many thoughtful, quiet leaders have attained strong reputations, which is a form of glamour.
