We, at Orellium Advisory Services, are strong advocates of the idea that the centuries old partnership model underpinning traditional professional services firms needs to be urgently modernised to better reflect the current and future commercial world in which they and their clients operate. The recent EY experience with Project Everest is another good example of the challenges posed by the partnership model. The linked article from The Times sets things out well. Fiona Czerniawska correctly says that the failure to secure approval for Project Everest illustrated the difficulty of making structural changes at partnership firms. “These firms are making very big decisions with a 100-year-old business model that doesn’t work best at scale. Everest didn’t mean to make that point, but it did raise some questions about how professional services firms are run.” She added: “It was a model in need of evaluation even before Everest was a flicker in EY’s eye.” In a rapidly changing commercial, client and geopolitical environment, where 45% of CEOs believe that their companies will not be viable in 10 years absent fundamental transformation. professional service firms need to think very carefully about their entrenched business models and the way they are run. Contrary to what they hope to be the case, they are not immune to the risks of the disruption. Indeed, we argue that they are more susceptible to disruption than ever before. The partnership model may exacerbate the threat of uncontrolled, unmanaged disruption. #leadership #strategicleadership #partnerships https://lnkd.in/eDp7AiZ5

What an amazing journey it has been! I am happy to share that I have been promoted to Director! 🙌 ✨ First, a super huge thank you to RSM for all the amazing opportunities I have had over the years. To all the mentors, colleagues, and friends who have been part of this journey, thank you for your guidance, support, and for making my time so far at RSM truly special. 💖 I am so grateful to find myself here, doing something I am deeply passionate about - ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) 💚🌎. Since starting in 2016, my time has been filled with growth, learning, and so many memorable moments. I am particularly excited for the opportunity to lead our global efforts for ESG for RSM North America, which is a role that truly aligns with my passion and ambition. One thing I’ve learned is that when opportunities arise, even if you’re afraid or unsure, it’s legendary to do it anyway (Miley Cyrus quote). At RSM, there are so many opportunities, and you’ll always have the support to dive in and try! A unique place that not only allows you to discover yourself but also provides the support, investment and environment to truly build on your passions and skillset. I wanted to attach some photos to this post but I couldn’t just pick a few as I realized I had way too many memories to choose from. So instead, I created a video that captures some of the best moments of my time at RSM! - A better recap of my experience so far and showcasing the amazing people I’ve met along the way! And because we know that I always go all out and sometimes can't help it… I couldn’t resist doing something a little extra for this post haha 😆 I hope you enjoy the video, which is layered with a song, Clarity by Zedd, that has lyrics that talk about finding your remedy, and for me, RSM and ESG has been just that. Thank you all for being part of this incredible ride. Here’s to the next chapter as we #growforwardatRSM ! Bain, Parthenon, McKinsey, sometimes I look at these and wonder, how did I get here. I have worked hard in these last 10 years of my mostly Consulting life, but that’s not the only reason. I believe luck has played a significant role in my journey. For instance, I had started my corporate career in Equity Research and if that opportunity of the Strategy project had not come my way in my first 6 months, I may have had an entirely different story. Let’s take another instance – I thought I was doing good strategy work in my first company and felt that I should have a smooth transition to a more Consulting role. I gave a few interviews, but nothing materialized. Then as luck would have it, I spoke to a few people over LinkedIn who worked in Consulting and one of them told me about these “case coaches”. That was super helpful as it helped me refine my Case Interview skills and I landed at Parthenon. Again, if I wasn’t lucky enough to talk to some of these people, life would have played out quite differently. Even today in my current role, luck plays a defining role and its across such a wide spectrum – who is mentoring me, who I am working with on a project/study/engagement, what type of work I’m getting, etc. Brings me to a line I read somewhere – Good luck is the twin brother of hard work. Keep working hard and good luck will find you! #consultinglife #linkedinforcreators

Thrilled to Share a Rewarding Experience at McKinsey & Company! Over the last three months, I had the opportunity to collaborate with McKinsey & Company on a project work part of the Finance Lab at Politecnico di Milano. In a dynamic team of six talented colleagues – Francesca Prestigiacomo, Ivan Mandelli, Alessandro Pio Babuscio, Andrea Bellotti, and Federico Rivetti – I experienced the world of private equity. Our objective? To create a commercial due diligence for the acquisition of a company owned by a private equity fund and close to the exit. This hands-on experience exposed me to multiple companies and industries like ceramics manufacturing, packaging machinery producers, beverage dispensers producers, and edtech sector. The main insights I gained were about key expansion strategies (organic/inorganic growth, internationalization, innovation, cost reduction), evaluation indicators, and an overview on the essential data sources from which fetching information. But what I actually think was the most valuable lesson, is the importance of teamwork skills, that I had the opportunity to cultivate alongside my exceptionally motivated colleagues. I would like to extend my gratitude to Professor Giancarlo Giudici for the significant opportunity and to our McKinsey mentors, Luisa Longhi and Enrico Muti, for their guidance and support. This experience has taught me to look at my passions from an higher point of view, transforming finance and consulting from mere career path to real life callings , and motivated me to apply these new skills and knowledge I earned, in all the challenges the future holds! #McKinsey #PolitecnicodiMilano #PrivateEquity #CommercialDueDiligence #Teamwork #ProfessionalDevelopment

A consulting career can be a lot of different things to lot of people. My take on life at top-tier firms from my experience at the MBBs and Parthenon includes - 𝐑𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: Diverse industries, varied business problems, and fast faced working styles accelerate your growth. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬-𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐧: Structured processes for daily tasks, like breaking down complex problems is an essential life skill. 𝐏𝐞𝐚𝐤 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲: Despite tight timelines and heavy workloads, high efficiency drives meeting deadlines with quality solutions. 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 & 𝐓𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭: Collaborative spirit thrives under pressure, creating special bonds and shared laughter in tough times. 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩: Gaining insights from Partners and Senior Partners’ strategic thinking offers a glimpse into a methodical, almost scientific problem-solving approach. 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞: Late nights and tough challenges forge unforgettable team moments and humor that lightens the load.
