Breaking Barriers: My Journey at the SARSYC Conference on Advancing Equitable Access to Public Health and Education As I stepped into the bustling conference hall of the SARSYC Conference on Advancing Equitable Access to Public Health and Education, I could feel a palpable sense of excitement and anticipation in the air. Attendees from all walks of life had gathered, united by a common goal: to address the pressing issues surrounding equitable access to public health and education. Little did I know that this conference would be a transformative experience that would reshape my perspective and ignite a passion within me. The conference began with an inspiring keynote address by professor Dr Choolwe Mizyamba an assistant professor/lecturer Utrecht University and university of Amsterdam Dr. Choolwe emphasized the urgent need to dismantle systemic barriers that hindered marginalized communities from accessing quality healthcare and education. His words resonated deeply with me, igniting a fire within me to actively contribute to the cause. Throughout the conference, I attended various reflection action meetings and panel discussions that delved into the complexities of advancing equitable access. One session titled "Engaging the youths in climate change action:interrogating the role of young people in climate action on campus.sent a message to youths to stand and help advocate for climate action in campus Another panel discussion, "Education for All: inclusive and responsible education systems ," shed light on the challenges faced by underprivileged students in accessing quality education. The panelists shared stories of resilience and highlighted successful initiatives that had made a tangible impact in improving educational opportunities for marginalized communities. Their stories served as a powerful reminder that change is possible, and that each individual has the power to make a difference. As the conference drew to a close, I couldn't help but reflect on the valuable lessons I had learned and the connections I had made. The SARSYC Conference had not only broadened my understanding of the challenges faced by marginalized communities but also empowered me to take action. Armed with newfound knowledge and inspiration, I was determined to make a difference in my own community. The SARSYC Conference on Advancing Equitable Access to Public Health and Education is an eye-opening experience that challenged my preconceived notions and inspired me to become an agent of change. It taught me that through collective effort and unwavering determination, we can break down barriers and create a society where everyone has equal opportunities for a better future. #public health and education #moments of the conference #SARSYC #saywhat #SARSYC 2024 #Building bridges
