We’re excited to share the results of our recent Good Food at Home program! Running from December 2023 to February 2024 in Englewood, NJ, Denver, CO, Milwaukee, WI, and Washington, DC, we provided over a thousand families with $60 in Fresh Funds for three months to purchase fresh produce on Instacart. We're inspired by these initial results but recognize there’s still work to be done. That’s why we’re expanding this program to more cities soon! Food businesses are essential to this revitalization, contributing to San Francisco’s diversity, creativity, and vibrancy. Wendy's is giving out free cheeseburgers all week! When you give out free products or services (or a client doesn't pay you) can you deduct those fees as a loss? Unfortunately, the answer is no. This is a very common question because most businesses confront this issue at one time or another. The lack of payment is not a deduction from your income taxes. However, if you purchased supplies, products, or have overhead related to those products or services, those can be deducted. For a business that has inventory, it is very important to have the right accounting practices in place so that you are able to deduct the costs of products you donate or discount. If you want to know more, feel free to reach out to me at www.thekohnpartnership.com or liza@kohn-partnership.com for more information. If you just want to find out more about free Wendy's cheeseburgers - here's a link for more info: https://lnkd.in/gb_FK-JC?

In-N-Out has closed a store for the first time in its 75-year history. It's not about money. Store 193 in Oakland was making money. But it wasn't safe. The company chose its people over profit. It's a hard choice, but the right one. They're saying thanks to the community that supported them for 18 years. They promise to keep helping through their foundations. Simple truth: care for your people, always. #InNOut #SafetyFirst #CommunitySupport"

I talk about marketing, pizza and travel. Building a community for the pizza industry one pizza owner at a time.
Owning a pizza shop is a dream for many. There’s something powerful about being your own boss. Running the show. Making the pizza you love. Building something that’s yours from the ground up. Sounds amazing and looks easy. **But here’s the reality:** Loving pizza is one thing—running a business is another. You’ve got to juggle food costs, marketing, and building a loyal customer base. Owning a pizzeria takes serious work, but the freedom and pride that come with it? That’s worth every minute. But if you don’t know what you’re doing, it’s going to cost you a ton of wasted time and money. If you're looking to take your pizzeria to the next level, something exciting is on the horizon.** Stay tuned. 👀🍕
