The Partnerships Collective’s Post

Recently, we faced a familiar challenge at The Partnerships Collective. Upon taking over a fintech affiliate program, we encountered a partner who was hesitant to reinvest effort into the brand, given past management's lack of support and communication. It’s a pivotal moment, one that any affiliate manager might face: How do you re-engage a partner who's lost trust in the program? We're leaning into transparency and proactive support, but I'd love to hear from you. How would you rebuild this bridge? #AffiliateMarketing #Fintech #PartnershipMgmt #BusinessRelationships #EngagementStrategy

- The discussion should happen on a Pre-Sale stage - it's an assumption that IF the merchant is giving an agency another chance - they saw something in you! - ACKNOWLEDGE PAST ISSUES. Clarify what specifically went wrong and what are the client's expectations for you to make it right. Is he craving a complex timely report? Is it transparency of outreach? Did he lack more robust opportunities? - CLEAR PLAN. Your plan should be delivering what he expects, when he expects, and how he expects, and then "put a cherry on top of it" - offer something he would be impressed with. Maybe he is craving a Road Map? - COMMUNICATION. Is it Email? Slack? Asana? Weekly/Bi-weekly/Monthly Calls? Through Summary of to do? List of what's done, pending, deferred, etc? What is your client's vision for communicating? Regular updates are important. - EDUCATION. Educating clients is important. - EXTRA. What can you offer to your client besides the standard affiliate services? SEO advice? D2C suggestions? Latest news? - YOUR VISION vs HIS VISION. We all speak different languages. So just ask! In the end, it's like with any relationship - "Help Me Help You!" Sometimes relationships recover, sometimes it's a one-way street and ends with a "divorce"

Recognizing and validating partners' feelings is really key in fostering that relationship. It's absolutely frustrating to put in the work and see very little return. Being empathetic and offering support goes a long way toward building trust but consistency is really the key. Check-in early and often and make more deposits than withdrawals.
