🦌 When we hired a moose for customer support... In an attempt to bring some antlered excellence to contact centres, we thought hiring a moose would be a brilliant idea. Majestic presence, booming voice, and incredible stamina – what could go wrong? 📞 Well, quite a lot actually. Turns out, navigating a headset around those antlers is a logistical nightmare. He kept getting distracted by nature documentaries playing in the break room and had an uncontrollable urge to snack on the office plants. 🌿 And let's not even talk about the chaos caused when he tried to make coffee. Who knew a moose could cause such a mess with a simple kettle? ☕️ While his customer greetings were heartfelt, the occasional grunt and unexpected munching sounds didn't quite convey the professionalism we were aiming for. Moral of the story: Sometimes, enthusiasm and a grand presence aren't enough. Finding the right fit requires a bit more nuance (and fewer hoofprints on the office floor). Things that annoy me (way more than they should) ❌ Middle Lane drivers ❌ Touching base with someone ❌ When people use “actioned” as a verb. ❌ Anyone that takes more than 3 seconds at a cashpoint ❌ Seeing I have 4G but not being able to load any webpage ❌ Just enough signal to make a call but not enough to keep it, it’s 2024 c’mon! ❌ The awkward moment you end up talking over each other in a teams meeting #hiring #tech #recruitment #careers #jobsearch

When to get more Techs? When scaling your alarm company, what comes first, more techs or sales. This dilemma raises a concern for most companies because they don’t want to bite off more than they can chew. Every company is different, but this is situational. Depending on the backlog would determine if it’s the right time to hire or not. If a company is a couple of weeks out, keeping existing staff while increasing sales demand is best to warrant hiring more techs. If the demand creates a monthly backlog, then hire more techs. It’s worth hiring subcontractors to help until you properly hire and train more techs. This provides relief while allowing you to keep up with the demand. Sales should always take precedence over everything. No sales, no company. P.S. Sales demand will help you keep people permanently while continuing to grow.
