Paschal tip! While this is a well-known practice for those of you experienced in the aggregate industry, this tip is for those of you newer to the industry. On screens where bearings share the same oil/mech tube, when the time comes to change bearings on one side, all bearings sharing the same oil need to be changed. On Deister Machine Company screens, ensure oil change services are completed at the intervals specified in the manual to maximize the lifespan of the bearings. #maintenance #aggregates #mining

This is a fantastic subject to discuss! Bare in mind that the material temperature will also affect the bearings. If material temp is above the range of grease specification, a higher temperature rated grease is needed. Also, most screen manufacturers offer an autolube system to grease the proper amount at the proper intervals. I recommend these because hand held grease guns apply different amounts per pump than others and can be inconsistent when distributing the grrease.

Paschal Tip: This is great advice, as a "poor - quick short term decision", by not changing out both bearings, most often leads to a delayed failure of other bearing, doubling repair maintenance labor costs, lost productivity, etc.

Paschal Associates, Ltd. Good point to note. The common trap is people tend to change one bearing where they experience the bearing failure just to beat the downtime. And an easy way is to allow the screen to stand for sometime to make it cool down before you begin the work.
