As an interior designer, I’ve always believed that honesty and authenticity are the foundation of our craft. In the interior design industry, integrity should always come first. A genuine designer’s opinions should be based on experience and a deep understanding of the client’s needs—not influenced by commissions from brands or products. A genuine designer’s advice should come from a place of trust and a commitment to creating spaces that truly resonate with the client—not from financial incentives tied to promotions. Let’s work together to create a design industry that values transparency, creativity, and the true essence of design. I’d love to hear your thoughts! #architecture #art #building #construction #engineering #design #designer #architect #artist #sanjaypuriarchitects #parametricarchitect #interiordesign

(Day 304) How can monitoring progress help you manage and prevent missed deadlines in the commercial interior design industry? Regular check-ins on your progress are a great way to ensure you stay on schedule. These regular check-ins can be scheduled daily, weekly, or even monthly. It is important to note that too many and too few check-ins can do more harm than good. By conducting weekly reviews, you can assess if any tasks are at risk of delay and devise a contingency plan. If you fall behind schedule, these regular check-ins can identify the cause and help you immediately act. (Day 331) How can staying flexible help you maintain your original vision when your client demands last-minute design changes? Flexibility is critical in commercial interior design especially when dealing with last-minute requests. Although it is important to defend your vision, being too rigid can lead to conflict and dissatisfaction with your clients. Exploring ways to compromise with last-minute design changes can help maintain your original design intent while satisfying clients. By being adaptable, you open the conversation instead of closing it on your client, who can feel unheard. (Day 302) How can setting milestones help you manage and prevent missed deadlines in the commercial interior design industry? Setting milestones is a great way to celebrate small wins and make sure you have enough time to complete a project on time. These milestones are indicators of how far along you are in the design process and how much time it took to complete each phase. These checkpoints allow you to evaluate your work and adjust accordingly. Completing each phase is also an opportunity to let your client and team know about your progress which can lead to deeper conversations on any needed adjustments. Architects and Interior designers, The best thing you can do for yourself is to make an impressive portfolio. And by impressive, I DON’T mean that you build a portfolio that only looks good. Instead, you create a portfolio that makes decision-making easier for your prospective clients. A good portfolio should be: Easy to navigate Easy to grasp Easy to evaluate So, the trick to making an impressive portfolio is actually nestled in how you structure it. Here’s what I believe is a great approach: + Categorize your projects based on design challenges, design style, and budgets. Such bifurcation will help clients understand: How do you deal with unique client needs and concerns in every project How do you finalize the design style of a space and bring it to life How can you best help them with design solutions across varying budgets This approach helps in setting the right expectations and eliminates the need for assumptions. Try this hack out and let me know how it worked for you.
