Last year, we launched the UK’s first direct air capture plant. This year, we’re putting another two systems on the ground. (More on that here 👉 https://bit.ly/3SyEnIl) This ambitious growth is entirely down to the expert team we’ve grown around our mission. But what, exactly, goes into rapidly scaling a new #climatetech? Today we’re taking a look at what our Lab Technician, Nirav, gets up to in our East London HQ. ❓What does a lab technician do at a DAC company? 🅰️ Preparing samples to run experiments and then analysing the results, calibrating equipment, and working with the chemicals in our tech are all part of my day-to-day. ❓Why did you choose to work for a climate tech start-up? 🅰️ It’s beyond exciting to know that my work to ensure the quality of our results will help to inform technical decisions which shape the direction of planet-changing technology. What else would you like to learn about what goes on at Mission Zero HQ? #directaircapture #labtechnician #carbonremoval

Specialty Technologist & Surgical Neurophysiologist at Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario; Shodan in Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karate
In 2024, if you work in the field of Electroneurodiagnostics or Electroneurophysiology, you are a Technologist, NOT a Technician. In Canada in particular, most provinces buried the title Technician in this field over 30 years ago. Why on earth that job title still exists in this field is beyond me (other than to pay these professionals less than their worth). By the way, most of us in this profession find it highly offensive when you call us a technician...just saying! Technologist Definition: "... an expert in a particular field of technology." Technician Definition: "a person employed to look after technical equipment..."

Are you ready to level up your laboratory skills? This message is for the people who are trying to get the job and the people who are working in the field. First and foremost, it's important to have a strong foundation in science and understand the principles behind the experiments you're conducting. And basic knowledge of the lab test. Next, pay attention to lab procedures. As a laboratory technician, you'll be working with precise measurements and delicate and complex equipment. One wrong move could throw off an entire lab result, so be sure to double-check your work and stay focused at all times. Trust me, I've learned this the hard way, and I have had a bad experience with it. But it's not just about technical skills; communication is also crucial. Whether you're collaborating with colleagues or presenting your findings, being able to articulate your thoughts clearly and effectively is essential. Plus, building strong relationships with your team can lead to better understanding and better outcomes. So stay focused and keep working. Best of luck #Laboratory Technician

Weapon of Mass Microbial Destruction ⚡ Serial Disruptor within Clinical Education ⚡ Content Wizard ⚡ Consultant ⚡ Media ⚡ Marketing ⚡ Mayhem ⚡ Clinical Sterile Processing Expert ⚡ Catalyst (Networking) Converter
Some industry shifts happen amidst fanfare and press releases. Some shifts happen right under our noses, almost imperceptible...until they reach what Malcom Gladwell calls "the tipping point." ...and then? Well, then -- when the tectonic plates of progress release all their their earth-shattering energy in one, big "BOOM" 💥 -- that's when the industry begins to shake. Now I'm no geologist or seismologist, but I do know a thing or two about #SterileProcessing, and what disruption looks like. And let me tell you, the earth beneath our feet is starting to tremble. All metaphors aside, if you are reading this status today, you are almost certainly the kind of Sterile Processing professional who is looking for "more." Why? 👉 Why are there so many of us (including me) who have maxed out traditional Sterile Processing certifications available to us, and yet, we still want...more? The answer is so simple, honestly, that it tends to be ignored. 👇 Our industry certifications were designed to bring us up to a "minimum" threshold of professional knowledge. They were created to serve as the "baseline" for entry level technicians, across various roles (technician, instrumentation, leadership, endoscopy, etc). 👉 They were NOT created to take us deep into any particular content stream. 👉 They were NOT created to verify, validate, and attest specific skills and competencies have been achieved. This is not a failure of certification. It was never its function to begin with. Because of this, that clinical hunger for "more" that I described above, and that so many of us in our profession feel, must ultimately be found elsewhere. Where do you turn to go "beyond certification?" How do you take yourself, and perhaps your entire department into the pioneering future that has the floor trembling beneath our feet? Enter the industry-shifting launch of Sterile Processing microcredentials through Beyond Clean and Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI): https://lnkd.in/gWaQ8J2x We've already got 2 microcredentials released with more being built to release in 2024. Are you ready (to rumble)? 🌎 💥 #Microcredential #BeyondCertification #Training #Competency #SPD #BeyondClean #WeFightDirty #WeEducateDifferently
