City and state officials are recognizing the importance of replacing aging highways that damage communities with assets like city streets, housing, and green space. It is estimated that Montgomery County, MD, needs approximately 200 additional traffic signals to address current traffic flow issues and improve safety. Maryland's roadway system spans approximately 70,000 lane miles across state, county, and municipal ownership.
