🎄‘Tis the Season for a Critical Care Christmas Tree 🎄 It has lights twinkling and the IV bag ornaments a hangin’, but just like presents under the tree, each one of those IV lines needs a labelin’! IV line labeling is when a label with the name of the medication is placed at the top of the IV line and another at the end of the line closest to the patient. This can greatly reduce the chance for medication errors. With this many IV medications, most have to share the same intravenous access they infuse into, but some IV meds can only go into certain ones-like a central line versus a peripheral line. There are also some medications that require a dedicated line and infuse alone, while many medications can infuse with others - but only after they are confirmed to be compatible. This is why it is critically important to have those lines labeled! So make sure to have those IVs labeled, listed and checked twice and keep those lines organized and looking nice! 🩺 Taking my 13+ years of nursing experience and using it to assist in the legal field ⚖️ jessica.medina.lnc@gmail.com #legalnurseconsultant #medicalmalpractice #personalinjury #criticalcarenurse #emergencyroomnurse #traumanurse #nursesonlinkedin

The Post-ICU diary helps critical care staff engage the family more effectively in the patient's care. In the ICU Liberation Bundle, known as the A-F Bundle, the F-element emphasizes 'Family Engagement and Empowerment'. Unfortunately, this crucial aspect is often overlooked Initiating family involvement can be delayed due to time constraints and effort required. Post-ICU addresses this challenge by actively involving families in care through journaling. This proactive approach can significantly impact the length of stay, occurrence of PICS, and overall post-ICU recovery, thereby influencing the hospital's bottom line. The digital diary is the only scientifically proven tool that directly enhances family care and engagement. Contact us to learn more about the Post-ICU diary and the role it can play in your ICU.
