"Education is the civil rights issue of our generation". February 1, 2024 #blackhistorymonth Arne Duncan (President Obama's 1st U.S. Secretary of Education), The Next Generation of Teachers February 1, 2011 talks about his trip to Morehouse College with Spike Lee to encourage Morehouse students to go into teaching. Arne Duncan's (President Obama's 1st U.S. Secretary of Education) first visit to Pathways in Technology Early College High School was October 23, 2012 and then he returned on October 25, 2013 with President Barack Obama. President Obama mentioned P-TECH in the February 2013 State of the Union address and wanted to see P-TECH for himself. October 2023 MDRC released P-TECH 9-14 Pathways to Success Implementation, Impact, and Cost Findings from the New York City P-TECH 9-14 Schools Evaluation https://lnkd.in/eaGqCrGr This report provides three years of post-high school follow-up, including during the pandemic. Previous reports from the study showed that P-TECH students earned more credits, passed more New York State Regents exams, and were much more likely to take college courses and earn college credits in high school than comparison group students. New findings in this report indicate that the P-TECH model increased students' postsecondary degree completion, particularly for male students, and boosted internship and dual enrollment rates, even during the pandemic. #weareptech #skillsbuild #skillsfirst #skills2030 PTECH Brooklyn HS Alumni Network NYC Department of Education The City University of New York City Tech, CUNY New York State Education Department The State University of New York New York State Assembly www.ptech.org

248 students graduated – 565 students re-enrolled – $3 million tuition recovered – 259,246 interactions between ReUp and University of Idaho students. Since 2019, ReUp’s partnership with the University of Idaho has helped support thousands of adult learners in their journey back to higher education. Working with U of I, ReUp identified the unique barriers faced by their adult learners, such as balancing time, financial challenges, and access to online options. Our shared commitment to understanding and addressing these challenges has led to remarkable outcomes, with 565 students re-enrolling, 248 completing their degrees, and over $3 million in recovered tuition. As Dean Kahler, the Vice Provost for Enrollment Management at U of I, shares, "ReUp has served as an additional recruiter working for the U of I." Explore the complete story of how we're empowering institutions like the University of Idaho to rethink how they approach adult learners: https://lnkd.in/gERdarJW #StudentSuccess #Insights #Data #UniversityOfIdaho #HigherEd #HigherEducation #EdTech

So true! And speaking of this, the UNC System Board of Governor's public comment submission is open for a few more days before they meet! Is there anything they need to hear about your experiences as a student or alum with faculty diversity? Or as a BIPOC faculty member? It's a public university system, and you are the public - let's be sure they are fully informed as they contemplate policy change. https://lnkd.in/eTbHHxU4
All students benefit from #FacultyDiversity. Engaging with different perspectives builds empathy, a respect for others, inspires creativity, & improves problem-solving skills. Our report goes over the need for #FacultyDiversity on college campuses. https://edtru.st/FD

The underinvestment in sixth form education in recent years is more than a policy oversight; it's a threat to the potential of our youth. Students pursuing mainstream education post-16 find themselves in increasingly narrow academic confines, with less support and fewer opportunities to explore their interests outside the classroom. According to the Sixth Form Colleges Association, this decade-long underfunding has led to a critical reduction in both the breadth of the curriculum and vital student support services. At Capture Minds, we step into the breach this funding gap has created, ensuring no student's ambition is curtailed by a lack of resources. Our mission is to envelop these students in an ecosystem of support that nurtures their academic, emotional, and career development needs, challenging the status quo of educational financing. It’s time for change – one that reimagines the landscape of sixth form education to empower every student to reach their fullest potential. #InvestInEducation #SixthFormGap #FutureLeaders

Chancellor at University of Minnesota Rochester | Higher Education Transformation | Student-Centered Learning | Research Informed Practice | Creative Conversations | Author, Communicate for a Change
While innovative faculty designers and trailblazing students are the real heroes, I am honored to have been mentioned in this Boston Globe Media article alongside Professor Robert Zemsky. A lower-cost, shorter degree embedded with evidence-based practice could significantly improve the chances of student success. It is encouraging to see more colleges adopt innovative solutions that make higher education more efficient without compromising quality. Ensuring students are learning deeply is more important than regulating how long it takes them to learn. #threeyearcollege #highereducation #UMR #Rochester https://lnkd.in/gMvcC5C9
