When I first entered the workforce as a new grad, I started developing this belief that I didn’t have the qualities that make a “great” hygienist. I saw a lot of my peers and couldn’t help but see everything that I wasn’t: ☀️ Bubbly and energetic 💁🏼♀️ Great hair and makeup everyday 😃 Always smiling 👨👩👧👦 Eager to share my private life w/ patients 📏 Content with following rigid protocol ❔ Never asking questions 🧐 Never making waves in the op I tried my best to be what I thought was expected of me because I was afraid of rejection by my patients and my coworkers. Over time, though, I started embracing my unique gifts and strengths. 💪🏽💥 I had to learn that I’m not for every patient or practice. I can’t please everyone. But there are MANY patients and practice environments that I am perfect for! And when things are in proper alignment, magical things happen. ✨ I’ve lead hygiene teams, maintained crazy-high treatment acceptance rates, and earned salaries well into the six-figures. I just needed to find myself and a place that wanted what I had to offer. Maybe you’ve felt this way—out of place, unqualified, or tolerated. Maybe you feel that way right now. Just know that there is a place for you, and you shouldn’t settle for anything less than what you’re perfectly aligned with. Thoughts?
