While preparing for forthcoming job opportunities, find an upcoming or existing organization to volunteer for. work with them and gain more experience. Let them know that you will love to receive awards from them for every achievement and certifications of completion or recognition where necessary. This will add more value to you and would make any HR or organization believe if you could do so much as a volunteer, how much more a paid job. Don't just sit at home. Go build your experience. Who knows, such an organization might be where you will meet your helper. Remember, you lose value by not doing and you gain more value by doing more. Most companies looking for #businessdevelopment or #marketing help are offering "commission only" pay to their business partners which is becoming less and less percentage-wise every year. To #businessowners - Something to remember: The time #businessdevelopers put into researching, promoting, and negotiating contracts to support your business is worth ten times more than the commission offered. Therefore, a solid base salary should be offered as well! To organizations offering #volunteer opportunities: You can't expect #volunteers to work for you as full-time employees and to give them a probationary period too. The definition of the world volunteer is "someone willingly giving up his/her time to help you out". You can't establish the same criteria, expectations, and requirements typical for the corporate world when you are onboarding and accepting volunteers. 💻 WEBINAR CATCH-UP: Two children’s social services teams, same problem: recruiting to permanent positions. Why did their campaigns succeed? The balance between temporary & permanent social workers in many councils is out of kilter. The difference in cost has been estimated at £40,000+ per social worker per year. Expensive – especially when local authorities are struggling with finances. In our Lunch Bite webinar earlier this week we heard from those involved in two quite different campaigns that have both been successful in recruiting permanent staff. Here are some of the things we learnt: 📜 Devote resources & budget to making sure creatives, messaging & marketing tactics are right for the specific audience you want to reach: investing relatively small to save big. ✍ Make the initial contact method for applicants light touch: avoid abandoned forms by encouraging people to register an interest & follow up with a callback. ⌚ The right time for your team might not be the right time for a potential applicant: tightly targeted, low-level, “always on” marketing will keep your organisation front of mind when they are ready.
