I have officially completed the PMI Project Management Foundations course through LinkedIN learning. Through studying the PMI framework, I've learned several key principles that will be invaluable in future project management endeavours. One important concept is how to build and manage a project schedule. I now understand the importance of sequencing tasks and using network diagrams to visualize task dependencies, which will help in effectively allocating resources and estimating task durations. The critical path and techniques like fast tracking and crashing can help shorten schedules when needed, and documenting a baseline will be crucial to track progress and manage changes. I also discovered Agile Project Management, which is ideal for projects with changing requirements or those aimed at delivering value quickly. Agile emphasizes flexibility, collaboration, and continuous customer feedback, breaking projects into short iterations or sprints. This approach differs from traditional methods by focusing on adapting scope while maintaining fixed time, cost, and quality constraints, enabling frequent adjustments and quicker value delivery. Effective execution and management of project work is another key takeaway. This includes aligning resources, conducting kickoff meetings, and monitoring progress throughout the project. Communication is vital, and delivering clear, concise updates and organizing productive meetings will help keep everyone aligned and the project on track. Additionally, motivating team members, offering feedback, and understanding the stages of team development will help foster a strong, collaborative environment. This course, taught by Bonnie Biafore, covers the fundamental techniques of project management that can be applied to achieve goals and make projects more successful. It starts with the basics, explaining what a project is and what project management entails. The course explores two main methodologies: Waterfall and Agile. It then dives into how to initiate a project, identify and analyze stakeholders, and set project goals and objectives. I learn how to gather requirements, define deliverables, and prepare a project scope statement and charter. The course also covers developing a project plan, including creating a work breakdown structure, estimating time and cost, and building a project schedule and budget. It discusses risk management, communication plans, quality plans, and procurement processes. Additionally, it provides an overview of Agile project management, including planning iterations and managing different stages of an Agile project. As the project progresses, I learned how to manage project work, communicate effectively, run meetings, and work with teams. It also covers monitoring and controlling project performance, managing changes, and evaluating progress. Finally, the course explains how to close a project, obtain customer acceptance, document lessons learned, and prepare a close-out report. The last chapter provides an overview of changes in the Project Management Institute’s PMBOK® Guide – Seventh Edition. As a fresher and student, this course will be highly beneficial for me and other students. It is designed for beginners and does not require any prior knowledge of project management. The course provides a solid foundation in project management principles and practices, making it easier for you to understand and apply these concepts in real-world scenarios. The use of a healthcare/IT case study project will give you practical insights into managing projects, which can be valuable when you start your career. Additionally, the exercises and quizzes will help reinforce your learning and build your confidence in managing projects effectively. check these out:- https://lnkd.in/dmqjME6Q https://lnkd.in/dQBXSKwV https://lnkd.in/dQBXSKwV

Earned a badge for successfully completing an in-depth course on project management. This course provided a thorough understanding of several critical topics: 1-Distinctions Between Project Management and Operations: It clarified how project management focuses on temporary, goal-oriented endeavors, while operations management deals with ongoing, routine activities that sustain business functions. 2-Predictive vs. Adaptive Management Methods: The course explored predictive (or traditional) project management methods, which involve detailed upfront planning and linear progress, and adaptive (or agile) approaches, which emphasize flexibility, iterative progress, and responding to changes. 3-Hybrid Project Management: It examined hybrid models that combine elements of both predictive and adaptive methods to tailor project management approaches to specific needs and contexts. 4-Driving Change Through Projects: The course highlighted how effectively managed projects can drive organizational change, inspire innovation, and achieve strategic objectives. Overall, the course provided valuable insights into managing different types of projects and understanding their impact on organizations

Project Management Professionals should consider reading the PMBOK 7th edition for several important reasons. 1. Latest Practices: It includes the most up-to-date project management practices, focusing more on principles than just processes. 2. Big Picture: The new edition looks at the overall value and outcomes of a project, not just the steps to complete it. 3. Flexibility: It offers a flexible framework that can be adapted to different types of projects and industries. 4. New Ideas: It introduces important new ideas like the value delivery system and project performance domains. 5. Stay Current: Keeping up with the latest edition helps ensure you remain knowledgeable and effective in your field. 6. Certification: Knowing the 7th edition is important for renewing your PMP certification, as the exam is updated to reflect these changes. Reading the PMBOK 7th edition helps you stay relevant and effective in your project management career. I anticipate that the 8th Edition will introduce several key changes. One significant change will be an increased focus on integrating AI into project management practices. This edition will also provide balanced guidance on Agile and Predictive methodologies, catering to a wide range of project management approaches. Additionally, there will be a shift towards more practical content, emphasizing the importance of achieving tangible outcomes and delivering value rather than just focusing on deliverables. These updates align with the previous shift seen in the 7th Edition, which moved from a process-based approach to a principle-based one, prioritizing outcomes and value delivery.

Having a framework of communication, collaboration, and accountability is crucial for any successful endeavor!
Project management must be addressed whether implementing large-scale projects or small ones. 🌟 Adaptability in Methodology: While not every team has the resources for a full-fledged Agile setup, even simpler, lean methods can profoundly impact project success. 🔄 Flexibility Over Rigidity: Tools and methodologies like Agile or DMAIC provide frameworks that are not set in stone. They offer a canvas for your creativity, allowing you to tailor them to your current resources and needs, ensuring that the approach serves the project, not the other way around. 🛠️ Essential Tools: Utilizing project management tools (like Azure DevOps, Jira, or simple Kanban boards) helps even the smallest teams track progress, manage tasks, and maintain communication without overwhelming resources. 💡 Continuous Improvement: Regardless of the chosen methodology, the focus should always be on improvement and efficiency. This commitment to continuous improvement not only ensures project success but also fosters a sense of accomplishment and progress within the team. 🚀 Starting Point: If you want to build or enhance your project management skills, I highly recommend the Project Management Foundations course on Coursera. It's an excellent resource that covers the basics and beyond, suitable for anyone eager to learn practical project management strategies. https://lnkd.in/dMYvDX9 🔗 Connect with us— tony.lee@leepartnersgroup.com Lee Partners Group is here to redefine what’s possible.
