While the concept of PE is highly acknowledged and promoted, who can take part in the process is restricted via ‘𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁’ 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘀. 🚫 These policies vary between decision-makers, creating a range of potential barriers to patient participation in decision-making. Participants from different stakeholder groups will be invited to identify practical solutions to navigate the various types of conflict-of-interest policies. But we appreciate your opinion. Honest conversations are going on with industry and patient representatives. #ConflictofInterest is often about perceptions and misperceptions, assumptions and lack of knowledge/understanding.

We report very interesting and engaged discussions about Navigating Conflicts of Interest in the different groups. We will follow up soon with key takeaways.
I was impressed by the useful and practical ideas that were proposed by the patient organization participants how patient organizations can proactively protect their active experts and their organization and how they can be prepared to navigate the COI waters. Thank you all! We are looking forward to expanding this discussion.

5moThis was a really interactive session, with a very practical focus. How do we ensure that patient stakeholders can be engaged while at the same time being clear on the impacts that any engagement may have on different types of conflicts of interest policies? A range of good practices and new ideas were identified and we will be writing these up shortly to continue the conversation and actions. Thanks to all the attendees for thinking through this issue in such a collaborative and open way!
