As the festive lights twinkle and 2023 waves goodbye, I can't help but look back on this year with a heart full of gratitude and pockets full of memories (and the occasional candy wrapper from all those team meetings - who knew brainstorming could be so sweet?). Joining Newxel as the Head of Partnership and Business Development was not just a career move; it was like finding a new family. A family that works hard, dreams big, and yes, occasionally enjoys too much coffee together. To my phenomenal team: you are the true stars of this journey. Your dedication, creativity, and spirit have been the driving force behind our triumphs. It's your energy that turns our brainstorming sessions into a powerhouse of innovation (and let's admit, our shared love for good humor does help!). This year has been particularly remarkable for the partnerships we've cultivated. To all our partners, you've been more than just collaborators; you've been catalysts for change and growth. Your unique insights, steadfast support, and unwavering commitment have been pivotal in our journey. Each new partnership has not just been a business achievement but a step towards building a community that thrives on mutual success and shared goals. The CMO role is so much fun… All we see on LI is:🚨CMO tenure is on the decline🚨 This morning at MAD//FEST, Boots UK CMO Pete Markey shared how fun the role can be in today’s marketing landscape. Although fun, you need to be highly skilled in 3 main parts: 🌟Part artist: every CMO needs to have a passion for creativity 🌟Part scientist: CMOs need to be data savvy to drive effectiveness across the board 🌟Part cheerleader: if the business doesn’t understand what you (marketing) do, then it will be hard to get investment. You need the team to back what you are doing. Since joining boots, Pete has increased the marketing budget by 35%. Talk about elevating creativity to the board!

I’m excited to join forces with Colosseum Strategy as a founding advisor and strategist, where I will collaborate with Keith Bryan, Yara Daher and Daniel Knapp on industry projects and select client engagements. This is in addition to my current work Media, Ads + Commerce, where I will continue to publish as an analyst on my Substack newsletter, do industry speaking, and work with clients on marketing/GTM strategy, content & insights development, and product strategy. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work alongside—and learn from—the Retail Media Dream Team at Colosseum Strategy. As the longtime leader of Best Buy Ads, Keith Bryan is a unicorn – the only RMN head from a major retailer now in position to help other players navigate the complexity of building and scaling RMNs and RMN-adjacent businesses. He’s seen it all, from building and operating a media business inside a major retailer, to partner selection, to managing organizational dynamics, to balancing the P&L implications of RMN investments. Yara Daher and Daniel Knapp are brilliant minds and deep fountains of expertise at the intersection of retail media, data, and ad tech. Both are incredible builders, operators, and strategists. Yara has forgotten more about retail media ad tech in the last week than I’ll ever know. And if there is a limit to Daniel’s knowledge of digital advertising, I haven’t come close to finding it yet. The Colosseum wasn’t built in a day, and commerce media networks won’t be either. But we can help you get to scale faster.
