A friend of mine, also an "European Engineer" 🇪🇺💻, recently visited the USA 🇺🇸 for work and travel. He enjoyed the trip immensely but came back believing that while the US is fantastic for tourism 🛬, living and settling down there might not be as appealing as in Europe 🌴📍.
This is, of course, just his take.
He found American cities 🏙️ lacking compared to European ones 🌆, citing issues like homelessness, heavy traffic 🚘, and a general absence of the unique character that European cities often have. Not to mention, he felt less safe 🔫.
That said, he really appreciated cities like San Francisco and New York 🗽, where we've holidayed together 🙂. He loved the US for its natural beauty 🌵⚡🌊🌲🗻🏜️ - forests, coastlines, parks, and deserts that you don't often find in Europe, outside of perhaps Scandinavia's wild nature.
I'm sharing this because it's a perspective I've found common among Europeans. I'm also curious about your views:
Do you think Europe is better for living while the US is the go-to for travel, especially for those epic road trips through national parks?
Or do the higher salaries in the US outweigh these concerns, making it more appealing to "earn in the States and spend in Europe"?
Are there other US cities you'd rate as highly as NYC and SF for living, or even more so?
