Following our second Façade Focus session on the Future of Façade Remediation in October, this new article focusses more closely on the impact the Building Safety Act 2022 is having on the recladding of apartment buildings. We tackle the issues surrounding the number of buildings that require remediation, how these projects pose unique challenges and factors to consider such as cost, compliance and competency. I would be interested in my networks view on this? Should roof top gardens be considered as a storey when considering the height and storey criteria under the Higher Risk Buildings Regulations? The Building Safety Regulator are currently considering this. Whatever the outcome, designers should consider construction materials and features to ensure safety for residents isn't compromised. #socialhousing #buildingsafety #riskmanagement

This guide represents a HUGE collaborative effort within and beyond our community and starts to look at the challenges in bringing products together as systems within buildings. It is a must read for anyone involved in the specification and design development of wall systems and the products that come together to form these vital compartments (including doors, raised access floors, glazed partitions, access panels etc).

A strict definition of building maintenance would encompass tasks regularly undertaken to ensure a building or property remains in good working condition around the clock. For larger buildings, this aspect of building management is crucial and can profoundly impact not only the lifespan of the building or its components but also the quality of the working and living environment. To explore the challenges and understand why this is important, you can find more information at the following link: https://bit.ly/3V1k6ww #buildingmaintenance #propertymanagement #maintenance

Huge changes underway in the industry! It’s surprising how many people aren’t aware that these changes affect all projects not just high risk buildings. We are supporting clients and consultants in education of the new legal duties under the changes to the building regulations. We can support with CPDs if anyone requires them.
A massive thank you to Thomas Heselden from Whittam Cox Architects for attending our Derby office recently to provide a presentation on the Building Safety Act. The presentation was also attended virtually by teams across our UK offices with our engineers finding the content very useful, generating plenty of discussion points! #thankyou #buildingsafetyact #cpd #constructionindustry
