MD @ Kalaari Capital | I’m passionate and motivated to work with founders building long-term scalable businesses
Do you remember the first time you heard about self-driving cars? Back in 2009 when Google started developing its autonomous cars, the world blew up with jokes, scepticism, and predictions of robot traffic jams albeit with a hint of excitement. Fast forward 15 years, and we can now book Uber rides in autonomous Teslas without a blink! From Tesla Autopilot to Waymo's robo-taxis, the progress made is rapid and unimaginable. The predictions for the future of autonomous vehicles are nothing short of groundbreaking—safer roads, reduced traffic congestion, and increased accessibility for all. But what about autonomous vehicles in the air? How do you feel about being in a plane that’s unmanned? Does that idea feel far-fetched? Well, some time ago, US-based Reliable Robotics Corporation proved that this is more than just sci-fi! They took a small cargo plane, courtesy of FedEx, which took off and landed at a small airport in California for 12 minutes, completely pilotless. A remote pilot handled all the radio calls and monitored the plane during the flight from about 50 miles away at the company’s command center. This is a sign of a future where unmanned cargo planes can move across the globe, delivering goods faster, cheaper, and with better efficiency. The use cases beyond deliveries is exciting - search and rescue drones navigating disaster zones, bringing vital supplies to remote communities, or even inspecting wind turbines high above the clouds. The possibilities are endless, and the potential benefits are many. There are challenges. Safety concerns are paramount, as are regulatory hurdles. But, let's not forget the concerns that existed a few years ago over self-driving cars. As technology advances, unmanned aviation is poised to follow suit! Who’s to say, perhaps in the next 10 years we might be sitting on unmanned commercial flights? Video source: Bloomberg #aviation #innovation #robotics #AI #car

I spent Labor Day weekend in San Francisco where Waymo has taken over the streets! I saw no major issues except a lot of traffic created from looky-loo's checking out the driverless vehicles. While Waymo is expanding it's robo-taxi service throughout the Bay Area and parts of Los Angeles it is still facing challenges. Last week, a Waymo vehicle re-routed into oncoming traffic in Phoenix 😳 How do you feel about autonomous vehicles and robotaxis? Will they go the way of the horse and buggy or will it be the future of transportation? #mobilitynews #mobilityupdate #mobility #urbanmobility #transportation #waymo #google #alphabet #parking #parkingnews #robotaxi #avs #autonomousvehicles #nodriver #rideshare #technology #future #cars International Parking & Mobility Institute (IPMI) Parking Today Media National Parking Association

Autonomous Vehicle Expert / I help operators (airports, cities, ports, mines, etc.) working to deploy autonomous vehicles reducing time, risk and cost to deploy AVs. I also help AV developers grow into new markets.
Airports are on the cusp of a transformative era with autonomous vehicles (AVs) beginning to roll out. However, many are unprepared for this shift, risking operational disruptions and safety concerns. Imagine the chaos and safety hazards if airports lack the requirements and policies for AV integration. It's not just about keeping up; it's about staying ahead in an increasingly competitive and technologically advanced industry. Airports are now operating with traditional vehicular traffic without the complexities of AVs. The landscape is rapidly changing, and the need to adapt is imminent. EVERY airport will need an "Autonomous Vehicles Requirements Guide," to transition smoothly into this new era. We will build this guide together to provide comprehensive standards driven requirements for efficient and safe integration of AVs. The time is NOW to proactively plan for AVs. This is not just a futuristic concept, it's an immediate necessity because the AVs are arriving in 2024. Don't wait and be unprepared. Contact ARIBO today to discuss our "Airport Autonomous Vehicles Requirements Guide" and start planning for a seamless AV integration at your airport. #autonomousvehicles #autonomousmobilerobots #autonomousairports
