USP Chapter adopts Recombinant Cascade Methods (rCR): A Green Light for Sustainable Endotoxin Testing The USP Chapter <86> will now incorporate recombinant cascade methods (rCR). This groundbreaking development paves the way for a more sustainable future of endotoxin testing. Want to learn what this means and how rCR can benefit your company? Feel free to set up some time to discuss
It’s Official! The Microbiology Expert Committee has approved endotoxin testing using non-animal derived reagents. Chapter <86> of the USP now includes recombinant cascade (rCR) methods like PyroSmart NextGen®. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/edgUBYYX

Utilizing the same LAL cascade as traditional LAL reagents, while eliminating the potential for 1,3-β-D-glucans cross reactivity. PyroSmart NextGen® delivers all of the quality and consistency of results you have come to expect from ACC LAL reagents. PyroSmart NextGen® can be used for a wide variety of endotoxin tests, ranging from standard water testing to samples requiring high sensitivity, such as intrathecal products and those requiring high dilutions to overcome interference. https://lnkd.in/dyW3XhP

🧑🏻⚖️ 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗨.𝗦. 𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗶𝗮: 𝗔 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🥳 🥇 About two weeks ago, the USP Microbiology Expert Committee has approved endotoxin testing using non-animal derived reagents! 🥂 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘵𝘦𝘹𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘱𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘥𝘰𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘕𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 2024 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘯 𝘔𝘢𝘺 2025. 🦀 For nearly half a billion years, #horseshoe #crabs have survived multiple mass extinctions and numerous threats to their existence. In recent years, however, they have faced a new challenge: 𝘢 𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘭𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘣𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘣𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘥, 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘴 𝘢 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘹𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨! 🫣 ♻️ This policy change marks a pivotal shift toward using lab-produced, non-animal approaches instead. These methods, known collectively as recombinant Bacterial Endotoxins Tests (#rBET), are not only more humane but also offer greater reliability and consistency compared to traditional blood-based tests. Synthetic versions allow scientists to avoid the false positives associated with blood-based endotoxin tests and help to ensure a stable supply chain by avoiding reliance on the blood of wild animals that are subject to environmental pressures. ℹ️ 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗘𝗧 𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗟𝗔𝗟 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁? 💉 It's 𝗧𝗛𝗘 single most common QC test performed on any (bio)pharmaceutical product, medical device, IVD, and even some cosmetics. But it's not just mandatory for the products! Water for injections, bottles, containers, and even packaging materials have to be tested for endotoxin! 💡 The adoption of rBET in the United States is a significant milestone, but it’s worth noting that Europe approved this change in 2016, and other parts of the world have followed suit over the past few years! 🌀 Consider the impact of this shift: more humane practices, improved reliability, and a sustainable future for both our industry and our environment! Congratulations to all scientists whose efforts made this momentum possible!🌈 US Pharmacopeia: https://lnkd.in/dY2FCixf #LALtest #horseshoecrab #endotoxintest #nonanimaltest #USP #USpharmacopeia #𝗣𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗶𝗮 #biotechnologyindustry #pharmaindustry #guidelines

Medical Microbiology STREAKING : Streaking in microbiology is a method to isolate pure colonies of microorganisms from a mixed sample . By using a sterile loop to spread the sample across an agar plate in a specific pattern, cells are thinned out progressively. This technique helps individual cells grow into distinct colonies, each representing a pure clone of the original cell. Streaking is essential for microbial identification, analysis, and antibiotic testing.

Food for thought. In the international market, there are roughly three widely recognized brands of manufacturers for automated susceptibility testing systems, as well as numerous Chinese solutions from various manufacturers. All of them operate on a standard protocol, delivering results within 18-24 hours. Since 2018, there has been a trend towards accelerated susceptibility testing methods directly from blood cultures or pure cultures within 2-4 hours. Currently, there are about nine ready-to-use solutions on the market, not counting Chinese ones (I know three or four of them). This suggests that in the next two years, both the market and the microbiology service itself could change significantly..... #microbiology #RAST #AST

Being fast is great 🏃♀️... but better be accurate !✔️ Adopting a Rapid Microbiology Method (#RMM) is great because it gives faster results 🦠. But it's important that the method is reliable. That's exactly what we're proving with IAN*, our solid phase #cytometer. We've generated thousands of data points to prove it. 📊 👇 Here are some highlights 👇 This is the result of an accuracy test where we compared the traditional compendial plates method against IAN*. For all the tested strains, the percentage of recovery was above 70%... which is exactly what we expect. 💯 *IAN detects bacteria, yeast, and mold in just 15 minutes. ⏱️ #microbiology #contamination #pharma #ATMP #CGT #SterilityTest
