What do we discuss in our member meetings? We cover a range of topics pertinent to different tole types, or professional backgrounds. We ask members what topics they would like to cover, and often meetings themselves generate future topics. We also monitor discussions on our member forum, as well as in the sector at large. Sometimes we cover UMHAN-related issues such as our Capability and Conduct Framework and how this can be applied in practice. ACLP is now accepting abstract proposals for 2025! This is an excellent opportunity to share your expertise, innovations, or research with peers and contribute to the profession's advancement. 👉Abstracts will be considered for the following formats: 2025 Child Life Conference: Session (60 or 90 minute session) Poster presentation Intensive (Full day or half day) 2025 ACLP Webinars: 60 or 90-minute webinar 📝Topics: We welcome submission topics that align with the child life core competencies. Abstracts in the assessment and DEI domain and content geared towards advanced topics are strongly recommended. In addition, we are seeking abstract submissions on the following topics: legacy building, child life field expansion, play-based interventions, student preparation, leadership and advocacy, burnout, and intervention strategies. We are also committed to increasing diversity and representation among our speakers. We encourage a wide range of voices and perspectives to contribute to a more inclusive conference experience. **New** from Neurodiversity Workshops is a series of town halls starting mid April. “We are the change we seek” Town Hall sessions are free to join and aimed at anyone who has an interest in neurodiversity. This is an open 'free' session and everyone can be as involved as they wish to be. The format is 2 X 30 minute speaker sessions from people with 'lived neurodivergent experience' and then an open 60 minute Q&A and conversation. Book here: https://lnkd.in/efyBKWUk Why attend: To many sessions such as this are restricted as far as everyone who attends being able to get involved, we promote an open format to hear from all who wish to speak and get involved. The session which will be in an informal and virtual setting. Each month we will pose a headline subject to talk about - a summary of which will be posted on here. There are no sales pitches, 'special' speakers or hidden agenda's - this is a way for people to meet, expand their network and discuss interesting questions about neurodiversity. Please repost to your network to make sure we get a truly diverse cohort for each session.

Re-posting this in preparation for the UK #neurodiversitycelebrationweek which starts on 18th March. A simple example of what #universaldesignforlearning can do in a classroom for all kinds of minds, with a project to select and test flexible seating options in a primary school class. Being able to choose how and where we sit and being able to choose how and when we move can have huge benefits when it comes to focus and productivity. How many adults could have this decided for them on an almost daily basis for fourteen years I wonder? And why is it OK to demand this from children with developing neurological systems that need way more feedback than our own? Makes us wonder who school is designed for. Neurodiversity acceptance is not enough, we need action if we are going to help ALL children and young people feel safe, feel seen and belong so they can learn. https://lnkd.in/ecuPKuKG

The logistics of planning and facilitating a virtual event are different from in-person event logistics, but by no means less involved. Hi everyone join Donald "DJ" Watson II, and myself for a workshop on "Applying the Cultural Narrative to a Clinical Setting: Part 2." This workshop is a follow-up for anyone who attended part 1. We will be focusing on the application of skills to real-world questions and problems. CEU's are available for LCPC's and LMFT's. Objectives: 1)How to develop a clinical cultural narrative. 2)How the client’s cultural narrative impacts the clinician and the clinical dynamic. 3)How the clinician’s understanding of their personal narrative influences and informs their work. 4)How to create holistic cultural interventions. It's hard to believe that it's November already, and it's been a year since we held our first event in the Learn// Discuss// Practise series at the NDI! This month, we're coming back to the topic of creativity and insights, and as always, this event will come with built in opportunities for you to reflect on and try out some of the tools and techniques we're finding helpful. One of them, believe it or not, is examining our ideas about creativity and failure! As always, we'll be getting the thinking caps on. If you'd like to think about professional situations that could've done with more creativity before joining us, then that will help you get the most from this session. It's not essential, of course!
