Crafting a store's culture: The power of collaboration! What defines the soul of a place? When you step into a store, a hotel, or any space, you sense its ambiance - a subtle yet powerful essence radiating character. In their inaugural collaboration, Frederik Schreve from OKTAVE and Ben Parker from Mobilizing Teams International have joined forces, rallying all team leaders of the future flagship store of one of world’s leading fashion Houses to embark on the journey of building their store's culture. In business, people follow behaviors more than strategy, and they will emulate what their leaders do. In the realm of leadership, context is everything, emphasizing the delicate balance between content and context. For the best-performing teams, key ingredients include pro-social behavior, alignment, psychological safety, and a common language. Leadership within a retail team is a social relationship - a dance where a Store Director and Team Leaders create the conditions for their teams to shine and give their best. It's #blackhistorymonth here in the states! Fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace is crucial to success. I believe this comes from the top-down: the leadership team is responsible for creating an environment where all employees feel valued and respected. By actively promoting diversity and inclusion, leaders can attract top talent, improve employee morale, and drive innovation within their organizations. It is essential for executive leaders to lead by example and prioritize diversity and inclusion initiatives to create a workplace where everyone can thrive and contribute to the overall success of the business. For marketing leaders in particular, diversity plays a significant role in ✨creativity✨ Bringing together individuals with different perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds curates a diversity of thought and ideas that can lead to more creative problem-solving, better decision-making, and ultimately, improved business outcomes. #TEinsights #DiversityandInclusion #BusinessSuccess #InnovativeWorkplace #creativity

Good topic to prompt reflexivity. As a method to factor in what team members are thinking, hold space to unpack ideas that are challenging--with supports in place to help facilitate discussions.
Leaders should be cautious about bringing in people from their previous companies. When new CEOs “get the band back together,” it signals that they don’t have confidence in people they don’t know or that they don’t think highly of the organization’s existing talent.

I was reminded by a colleague today that loyalty is built when people feel heard, included and respected. Creating a culture that truly values employees goes beyond words on a website or what you once said. It's about making a conscious decision every day to involve your team in decisions, trust them with hard truths and show them respect through honest communication. This means listening to their feedback, recognizing their contributions and fostering an environment where people feel safe. Let’s move beyond lip service and create workplaces that truly value and empower their people. And let's keep ourselves accountable when we don't. #Leadership #EmployeeEngagement #WorkCulture #RespectInTheWorkplace

THE VALUE OF A UNIFIED WORKFORCE Remember your high-school cliches and their divisive hierarchies? Being ostracized is a byproduct of exclusivity, racism, and elitism. These toxic behavior costs companies millions of dollars in lawsuits, recruitment, productivity, and ultimately profitability. American businesses lost $223 billion over the last five years due to bad workplace culture, according to a report from SHRM. Transformative leadership understands the tremendous value of an inclusive workforce. Inclusive teams are 35% more productive and are a higly effective marketing strategy! Implement human-centric policies and initiatives that educate, uplift, and encourage everyone. Reinforce and incentivize positive people-first behaviors with rewards to promote unity. _______ #marketingstrategy #inclusiveworkplace #transformativeleadership

"Over-relying on former colleagues is a cheap play in the chief executive’s playbook. Great leaders need to be able to get results from people they haven’t worked with previously." - Jeff Jones, CEO, H&R Block Excellent case study from #HBR on the nuances of aligning the right talent with the right roles; I find Jeff Jones' take on the pitfalls of unhealthy attachments especially insightful. Over-reliance on loyal faces is a tactic that, no matter how a leader tries to justify it, is symptomatic of inherent trust issues that may stall future innovation. If a leader brings his Old Guard wherever he goes, how will he drive change in times when the organization really needs novel ideas? If the hiring strategy is simply "us vs them", at what point will the leader stop viewing new talent as threats to himself, especially when "new threats" may actually help him achieve the organizational goals that he's been after? #Leadership #Strategy #Management #Hiring #OrgChart #Nepotism #ChangeManagement #CEO
