Who knew installing your Corten cladding was this simple?! ✅ This vibrant orange colour is the Corten weathering in its early stages. The oxidation process typically progresses as follows: ➡️ Initial Exposure When first exposed to moisture and air, the steel begins to rust similarly to ordinary steel. ➡️ Development of Patina Over time, the rust layer stabilises and forms a protective patina. This process can take several months to a few years, depending on environmental conditions. ➡️ Maturing The patina continues to mature, gradually changing colour from a bright orange-brown to a deeper, richer hue. The fully developed patina is less porous and more adherent, effectively sealing the steel against further corrosion. Have you got any pictures of your Corten features fully matured? Send them in - we’d love to see and share your stunning transformations! #cortensteel #cortenprocess #rust #patina #cortenfeautres #cortencladding #installation
