Have you wondered where you can find information about the guidelines, legislation and regulations for mineral exploration in Victoria? The Mineral Resources (Sustainable Development) Act 1990 is the central legislation covering minerals exploration, development and operations in Victoria. This Act was created to ensure any minerals exploration is compatible with the state’s economic, social and environmental objectives. It balances out the rights and interests between explorers and landowners. To read the key information in the summary, click on the link below: https://rb.gy/1qbxyq

#ICYMI, The House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources hosted a legislative hearing today featuring bills that would expand the federal government’s list of #criticalminerals, including copper, steel, silicon, and phosphate. This move will streamline federal subsidies and permitting for mining projects, strengthening the U.S. critical mineral supply chain and our #nationalsecurity. 📺 Watch the full discussion here: https://lnkd.in/evWpsszm

And of course contingent on federal monies to fund carbon capture from the expansion! The rich getting more of our tax money. They published making only $987 million dollars for the first quarter of net earnings, down from over $1 billion from the same time last year. That is NET earnings not gross earnings. If they can’t afford to pay for all the costs of building the plant with all the environmental requirements from that kind of profit then I feel management needs a change. But our governments will bow down and give them what they want so they will put people to work. The amount of profit they will make from the expansion should be incentive enough. The people going to work there should not have to pay them to go to work. The workers tax being collected by the feds and province is what will be used to help finance part of the project so they are paying to go to work! This for those of you who feel the government needs to do more for these multinationals so they put people to work. I am all for the expansion but not from increasing my tax burden!!!
Today, Canadian Natural Resources Limited (CNRL) President, Scott Stauth says they are considering a 195,000 bpd expansion at Horizon, contingent on new pipeline export capacity as well as government support for a CCS project proposed by Pathways Alliance.

The House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Energy and Mineral Resources is scheduled to review H.R. 8446, which proposes to ensure parity between critical materials, as defined by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) of Energy, and critical minerals, as defined by the U.S. Geological Survey. Titled the "Critical Mineral Consistency Act", the bill aims to eliminate confusion between the two definitions and provide the same benefits to both critical materials and critical minerals as part of an effort to reduce the country’s reliance on foreign nations for the mineral resources it needs to bolster national security and domestic supply chains and to transition to a cleaner economy. This would mean proposed mining projects targeting copper could benefit from H.R. 8446 if signed into law by reducing bureaucratic hurdles and providing financial assistance. H.R. 8446 was introduced by Congressman Juan Ciscomani of Arizona's 6th District and Congressman Eli Crane of Arizona's 2nd Congressional District. Personally, I would prefer local, responsible development of the Duluth Complex before sourcing minerals from around the world and under the sea. Fascinating to learn about the exploration investment and scale of the known undersea resources. As we shift from a fossil fuel intensive energy landscape to a mineral intensive clean energy future - honest discussions around transparency in the supply chain and new mineral demand must continue. There are hard realities which can’t be ignored. https://lnkd.in/g8K-7QeJ
