I’ve always thought of #TIDWIT as a Nervous System, but seeing it as a Constellation makes so much more sense 🤯 !!! From a Portfolio Approach to a Constellation Spectrum: a synthesis from professor and consultant #BenGomesCasseres' on Managing Ecosystems. Minutes 17:50 - 22:00: The shift from a portfolio approach to a constellation spectrum represents an evolution in how organizations structure ecosystems to create value. In a portfolio approach, individual entities operate independently, with minimal collective decision-making or interdependence. This model is common where companies manage multiple, loosely connected partnerships. The focus here is on flexibility and diversity rather than synergy or integration. As ecosystems progress along the spectrum, they evolve into interactive networks where interdependence becomes essential. Platforms emerge as a critical mechanism, enabling companies to collaborate effectively. In technology, for example, software and hardware must work seamlessly together, ensuring that the ecosystem as a whole delivers greater value than its individual parts. These systems rely on shared goals and coordination to ensure compatibility and mutual benefit. Further along the spectrum, ecosystems become more tightly integrated and structured, forming what can be described as hardwired constellations. These often involve equity-based relationships, such as consortia or joint ventures, where entities share ownership, governance, and accountability. Organizing these ecosystems requires deliberate strategies. Platforms provide the shared infrastructure that enables integration and innovation, especially in digital ecosystems. Orchestration, where a lead organization facilitates alignment and collaboration, ensures that entities work together effectively. Traditional supply chains also serve as a proven form of ecosystem organization, with sequential value addition and tightly coordinated relationships across tiers. This transition from loosely connected portfolios to integrated constellations reflects the future of ecosystem strategy. It highlights the importance of trust, alignment, and shared objectives in creating sustainable, high-impact networks. By moving along this spectrum, organizations unlock deeper efficiencies, foster innovation, and deliver greater collective value.

I had the honor of participating in a dynamic panel discussion at the Building Transformations Innovation Spotlight Event, where we explored how innovation is reshaping the AEC ecosystem. The conversation, moderated by Aaron Toppston, Managing Partner at GS Futures, brought together experts like Luigi La Corte, CEO of Provision, Hammad Chaudhry, VP Innovation & Construction Technology at EllisDon, and Erin Khan, Founder of Erin Khan Consulting, and yours truly. We tackled some key questions around how technology enables collaboration, drives efficiency, and helps contractors make better, data-driven decisions. One of the most exciting aspects was discussing the role of data architecture and decision-making tools that allow contractors to reduce risk and optimize performance. At American Global, we’re always looking to help contractors and industry leaders leverage these innovations to reduce the total cost of risk and improve project outcomes. 📹 Check out the video in the link here: https://lnkd.in/g3W5fTiP #Innovation #ConstructionTech #DataDriven #BuildingTransformations #EllisDon #AmericanGlobal #AEC #ConstructionIndustry #Collaboration

Can Business learn from Nature? Jef Teugels writes >> "When business leaders talk about ecosystems, they often conjure up images of sprawling supply chains, digital platforms or interconnected industries. But in the rush to draw parallels, the term has become little more than corporate jargon - another way of describing complex business networks without recognizing the underlying systems that determine their success or failure. True ecosystem thinking, however, requires a deeper reflection. If we want to understand how networks survive, adapt and ultimately thrive, we need to look at ecosystems as nature intended: as resilient, interdependent and dynamic systems. However, to learn from nature, we must go beyond surface-level analogies and recognize both the parallels and the limits of comparison."
