Here's how we celebrated World Whisky Day with #TheGreatIndianWhisky & Sonal C Holland, Master of Wine Repost : Indian whiskies are making a global impact with their superior quality and world-class taste, evident in the numerous awards they’ve won in recent years. Here are 3 reasons why you should pay attention to award-winning whiskies: 1️⃣ Whisky awards are highly competitive, with many reputed labels vying for medals. Winning an award means a whisky has outperformed serious competition. 2️⃣ Awards are judged by experts who evaluate whiskies on various parameters. An award-winning whisky is endorsed by knowledgeable jurors. 3️⃣ Winners can use jury scores for promotion, giving whisky lovers a reliable marker to confidently choose a label. Additionally, these awards often lead to increased global recognition and market demand for the winning whiskies. Let’s celebrate World Whisky Day with Mithuna by #pauljohnwhisky ! This award-winning Indian single malt, named the 3rd Finest Whisky in the World by Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2021, boasts a dynamic taste from its maturation in new American oak and ex-bourbon casks. 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐤𝐲 𝐃𝐚𝐲! Today, we celebrate this timeless spirit and its incredible legacy spanning over hundreds of years and transcending cultures and generations. At PPD Global, whisky holds a special place in our hearts. We are the proud home of the best whisky brands in the world, produced in Scotland, Ireland and USA. Our portfolio features iconic names like 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐞𝐫, 𝐉&𝐁, 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐢𝐭, 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬, 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐨𝐧 and 𝐋𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐯𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐧 – just a taste of the world's best-selling brands. This day is a good reminder of how amazingly diverse in flavours and experiences is the whisky universe: from the smoky and spicy, to the sweet and fruity, or something in between. It holds many influences that help this most complex of spirits draw us irresistibly towards it. Just think about Scotland, with its wide variety of single malts, blended whiskies, and single grains. Or about Ireland known for its smooth, triple-distilled character with notes of honey, malt, and spice. With its versatility, whisky fosters authentic connections, bringing people together through great experiences. As Mark Twain once famously said: ”too much of anything is bad, but too much good whisky is barely enough.” Some people enjoy their whisky neat with no ice or water, while others like to bring it alive with a dash of water. Others prefer theirs on the rocks. Whisky also plays an important role in cocktail culture worldwide. Think of the classic Old Fashioned or something as simple and easy as a Scotch and soda in a Highball glass. Whether you're a single-malt connoisseur or a whisky cocktail enthusiast, we wish you happy World Whisky Day 🥃 #WorldWhiskyDay #Whisky #Spirits #Drinks

I am often asked: What Sets Whisky Apart?** 🥃 There is a reason why whisky reigns supreme in the world of spirits. It is more than a drink; it is a journey through history, culture, and craftsmanship. 🌍 **Heritage & Terroir**: Each bottle is a story of its environment - the lush Scottish Highlands, the smooth Irish terrains, or the bold American barns. The Johnnie Walker Annual Report highlights that 41% of consumers associate whisky with cultural heritage, making it a sip of tradition and authenticity. 🛠️ **Craftsmanship**: Whisky-making is an art and a science. The meticulous process of malting, mashing, fermenting, distilling, and maturing is akin to an orchestral symphony. We know that a sought-after single bottle may take over 100 pairs of hands to craft. That's dedication! 🕰️ **Aged to Perfection**: Unlike many spirits, whisky gets better with age. The ageing process imbues complex flavours, from vanilla to spice, making it a drink to savour, not rush. Data from the International Wines and Spirits Record suggests aged whisky sales soared by 7% last year, underlining a growing appreciation for matured spirits. 🎨 **Diverse Flavour Profiles**: From peaty Islays to sweet Speysides, whisky offers a spectrum of tasting experiences. The diversity ensures there's a whisky for every palate, making it a versatile component for cocktails or neat sipping. 👀 **A Unique Perspective**: For me, whisky isn't just a drink; it’s a passport to diverse cultures and eras. Each sip transports me to a different time and place, blending the past with the present, offering a taste of history with every pour. So, what makes whisky unique to you? Join the conversation. 🥃 What's a stand-out whisky that questions expectations? 🤔 As a whisky enthusiast, I often find that the best dram at a tasting evening isn't always what I have had my eyes (or tongue) on. Last weekend, I enjoyed an unforgettable whisky journey hosted by close friends. By the time I reached my fifth glass of the day, I stumbled upon a hidden gem. I'd already savored some peaty Islay icons like Kilchoman's Machir Bay and Bruichladdich's Port Charlotte 10. That comes in at salivating 50% ABV. But it was the Thomson Brothers Lowrie's Reserve Blended Whisky that left a lasting impression. 🤯 Despite being a blend and clocking in under 46% ABV, this whisky was the star of the show. Crafted from the tiny distillery in Dornoch, the blend comprises "contains Strathclyde whisky distilled in 1994, as well as two barrels of 11-year-old Speyside malt and three hogsheads of heavily sherried blended Scotch whisky," according to The Whisky Exchange. The youngest component is just 8 years old, yet it shines brilliantly, as a blend and not a single malt. 🌟 The result is a smooth, fruity delight filled with melon, pear, and strawberry notes. These are wrapped in a hint of cloves—a testament to impeccable blending. It's no wonder Thomson Brothers clinched two accolades at the OWSAs, as voted by over 4,000 whisky lovers globally. See https://lnkd.in/dpR3thiz This is a blend that defies convention, definitely not my usual choice. Special thanks to the The Whisky Exchange and to David Krisman for this superb experience. Here's to finding your next stellar dram in the least expected places. 🥂 #Whisky #WhiskyTasting #ThomsonBrothers #WhiskyEnthusiast #OWSA2024 #HiddenGems

#Whisky Connoisseurs Assemble! What is in your glass today? Are you opting for a single malt or a Blended malt whisky, Bourbon maybe? The choice is definitely yours! There is no better way to order that peated whisky than you believe is best! Maybe those of you wondering, mmmh... should I call it whisky or whiskey? Well, to those who know, no explanation is needed. But wait, are you among those thinking this is just a grammar issue pegged to the region? You are wrong, let me take you on a small whisky class so you won't embarrass yourself later in the day when your boys invite you for that 12-year singleton single malt. Whisky is only used on drinks produced in Scotland, actually, there are legal restraints prohibiting branding your drink 'whisky' if not produced in Scotland. Intrigued? Well, we all know the Super Power, you know, the US. Copycat maybe? I did not say. They call it Whiskey. Ever heard of Tennessee whiskey? The US own the trademark name 'Whiskey.' Now, maybe you are wondering what the difference is between a single malt, blended malt, and a bourbon. Well, a single malt is a whisky from a single distillery made from a mash that uses only one particular malted grain. Can you guess what blended malt whisky is? You are right; it is a mixture of single-malt whiskies from different distilleries. Lastly, what is a Bourbon whiskey? Just the name Whiskey already tells you where it's from, right? Or were you not attentive? Bourbon is a type of barrel-aged American whiskey made primarily from corn. Lets put it precisely, 51% of the grain used is corn. Are you already feeling like a whisky sommelier? Well, you should step out in confidence and order that 12- or 15-year-old single malt. Wait, I almost forgot! Wondering what a 12-year-old whisky means? Well, "12 Years Old" means that the youngest whisky in the bottle is at least 12 years old. This is where manufacturers get to develop that unique taste in every product. You never really know how many casked whiskies are in one whisky. Now, with this knowledge, I am free! Pin location maybe? Enjoy your #worldwhiskyday!! #whisky #alcoholicbeverages #beverageindustry

In the 1980s and 1990s, dozens of Scotch Whisky Distilleries closed their doors. Some, like The Imperial, for ever. Lots were demolished. The Casks of the Scotch Whisky they made, they didn't get demolished, somebody bought the. Who this 'somebody' is, is just one of the many Scotch Whisky Secrets. There are rather a lot of them. The complex story of 'who owns what Cask' is extremely complicated and I won't go into it, here. Mainly, because I don't know. Nobody does! What Casks are left? Geographically, where are these Casks? How many Casks are there, all over Scotland? To be Scotch it HAS to be in Scotland. Suffice to say, the 'Scotch Cask Transfer' saga of 'who owns what' makes the 'who pays the wages of a Loanee Professional Footballer?' look relatively straightforward. What IS clear though is that the 'Old and Rare' aspect of Scotch Whisky is absolutely huge. Nobody's prepared to say HOW huge. Because nobody knows. #ScotchWhiskyTruths
#Cask88 is incredibly proud to announce that our 1998 single cask bottling, “The Bothy”, from the lost Imperial distillery, has been awarded a remarkable 98/100, an Outstanding Gold Medal at the illustrious International Wine & Spirits Competition, beating off hundreds of competitors to achieve one of the highest scores possible this year. The Imperial Distillery is a fabled, "ghost" distillery after closing its doors in 1998, to eventually be demolished in 2013 for the new Dalmunach distillery - established in 2015. This elegant, bright, and exceptional whisky is a true testament to Speyside whisky, and we were blessed to have one of the last ever casks from this fantastic distillery.
