I wish I knew this earlier as a motion designer.. Animation always begins with static storyboarding. I always used Adobe XD for designing my scenes, exactly — used. This time I made everything in Illustrator—more freedom, more color control, and a stunning visual upgrade. Make the storyboard look good and the animation sexy. 🛠 Taking a Creative Break: Exploring Frame-by-Frame Animation 🎨 This week, I decided to step away from my usual routine and dive into something new—frame-by-frame animation! 🖌️✨ As a motion designer, I'm used to working with keyframes and automated processes, but frame-by-frame animation felt like going back to the basics of animation magic. Each frame is hand-crafted, allowing for so much creativity and detail in every movement. 🎞️ It was challenging but so much fun! 🎉 Sometimes taking a break from the daily grind is exactly what you need to reignite your passion and try something outside your comfort zone. Week 2 of my Motion Design Course is in the books! Working on anticipation, transitions, and having objects follow a custom-drawn path! I don’t feel comfortable sharing this 😵 , but: if something that makes us feel awkward can help us or others improve, why not use it/share it, right? My movements are quirky, and I never intended to show them to anyone, yet here I am. But hey, they served a purpose—to help me craft a better animation. So, I took this non-skilled acting of an enthusiastic seller and transformed it into stylized key poses, working on the in-betweens. It was all about capturing a genuine interaction. The awkwardness remained, but I made progress. This was made 2 years ago, I used Callipeg for the trad animation and AE for the rest. Need to create a simple animation? This is what I do 👇 I’ve had a really great experience using Adobe Illustrator - Tips, Tricks, & Tutorials and Adobe Express together for easy movement. Have you used it? Post below what you’ve created with it! Rather than diving back into After Effects and having to remind myself how to use the program (let’s be honest, I’m no animator!), Express has a super straightforward interface. If I can use it, literally anyone can Just upload your vector file with separated layers, and you can do basic intros, outros, and loops.
