𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐲 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐨 𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞-𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞. Miles Richardson recently shared a post on Linked In about Language Stripes. Since he did that, I've shared the post many times and read the article at least four times. There will be more readings to come. I will post the link to it below. It was birthed partly in Australia, where Indigenous knowledge has been through a literary renaissance in the decades since I attended university and opened my eyes to racism the 1980s. It birthed a lens of human rights that has informed all my business relationships and life teachings since. The Language Stripes is a collaboration between Ochre Dawn, Ben Bowen (Indigenous Literacy Foundation), Araceli Camargo (Centric Lab), Professor Miles Richardson (University of Derby) and Dr Jake M. Robinson (Flinders University). For anyone interested in #regenerativebusiness and #regeneration in any way, look to Language. It is a means of expression that embeds more meaning than the words we skim. Here is a favourite article quote to tease you over to the original post. "𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝𝟏. Never underestimate the importance of having fun | 🎥Content creator, Podcaster, Radio Host, Filmmaker🎙️
“Language is the foundation of civilization. It is the glue that holds a people together. It is the first weapon drawn in a conflict.” - Arrival (2016) The year is 2016. An emergency news broadcast comes on the tv announcing the Arrival of 12 ships. Visitors from beyond the stars, and we have to learn through linguistics what they are here for and why. This is the plot for the movie Arrival. A unique take on the alien movie genre as instead of being full of action it is about understanding.
