A Zambian Youth has Developed Zambia's First Smart & Energy Efficient Stove which is Now Available In Stores Remember the time I shared Katongo Musonda's story in 2021? Let's get an exciting update on his innovation Journey. We all love to see an innovation move from idea stage to implementation stage and witness it's entry into the markets. This gives hope to future innovators who end up becoming one of the major key partners in Economic growth. Katongo's journey has been full of ups and downs but his resilience to see his project become a reality has been remarkable. Katongo approached Ministry of SMEs who connected him to the right sponsors and partners : 1. Absa Bank Zambia PLC provided him with access to finance by giving him a seed capital of K120,000. 2. Zambia Development Agency provided financial literacy, guided him on his business proposal and worked on his business acumen. 3. Stenson Industries Lmited stepped in as an investor to boost production of more stoves. 4. Shoprite, Pick n Pay and Radian Stores have offered to sell his stoves in their stores. ABSA facilitated this partnership as they proposed to offer him access to wider markets. 6. Zamtel will be supporting the technological aspect of the stove. What makes this stove special? - This stove is a tech solution that also promotes environmental sustainability at the same time. WOW !!! - It uses artificial intelligence to attain precision cooking resulting in reduced energy consumption by 40-60%. - The control panel of the stove is a huge touchscreen that can be used as an advertising platform as well. - It's also able to monitor what foods are being cooked on the stove and generate weekly/monthly/annual reports on household food consumption patterns to advise on proper diet for improved health for users & will also reduce on non communicable diseases that are on the rise due to poor diet. If you'd like to invest in Katongo's innovation or buy his stoves, Simply email him on zednextindustries@gmail.com. His stoves will now be available in Radian Stores, Shoprite and Pick n Pay. BUT GOD !!! Show Katongo some love in the comments section and share his story far and wide. The freedom of a lawyer is essential for the effective functioning of the legal system. It allows them to advocate for their clients without interference, ensuring that justice is served. Lawyers should Exercise independent judgment, Lawyers must make decisions based on their clients' best interests and the law, lawyers must be free from external pressures, must have free access information, Communicate freely, Advocate vigorously, Defend unpopular causes and represent clients in controversial cases. Protecting these freedoms helps maintain the rule of law and ensures that all individuals have access to legal representation. Ofcourse, all this is guided by the law and professional ethics!
Language has real impact. As lawyers, we are taught early in our training that a slight change of wording can fundamentally change how a statement is perceived, and the actions that follow. For years, we have defended our members working in immigration law as they were subject to questionable language in the media, in political debates, and in online conversations. As we reflect on the riots that took place last week, it is deeply saddening to see that these conversations, which have been misleading, derogatory, and inflammatory, have manifested into threats of physical violence. Lawyers who represent their clients are not only doing nothing wrong, but they are also doing exactly what they are supposed to do in playing their part in ensuring that the rule of law is upheld. Language and actions that unfairly undermine confidence in the independence of the legal profession, and potentially risk the safety of lawyers, ultimately undermines confidence in our entire justice system and the rule of law. No lawyer should be attacked for doing their job.
