Looking forward to this event coming up on 21st January. There is a lot of interest in #labourstandards in care, so what can investors do? It’s a sector where public equity is largely not part of the picture but investors may have exposure through #property and #privateequity allocations. So it may require a different approach to much #stewardship activity. Should be an interesting discussion.
WEBINAR: Join Rights Lab colleague Caroline Emberson as well as Charlie Crossley and Tom Powdrill on Tuesday 21 January, 11-12:30pm at their webinar titled: "How can investors drive up labour standards in the English care sector?" This webinar, with a keynote by the previous Independent Anti-Slavery Commissioner, Dame Sara Thornton, offers those attending the opportunity to hear about and discuss research conducted by the Rights Lab, University of Nottingham and funded by Friends Provident Foundation. The research highlights the role investors can play in helping to improve labour standards throughout this sector which is of large and growing significance to the UK labour market. Really enjoyed this event today - especially the insight into ownership and control in care. It's a sector that faces some tough financial challenges combined ambitious plans to improve workers' rights and bargaining power. For investors, traditional public equity is marginal, though #REITs are an important part of the mix. Instead exposure will primarily be through #privateequity and #realestate. Lots to think about. #responsibleinvestment #modernslavery #labourrights #decentwork
