"No grit, no pearl" This was our final 2024 School Assembly message. As we close out another remarkable year with EAs in Education, these words perfectly reflect the resilience, dedication, and transformation that define the Executive Assistant profession, especially in the dynamic and ever-evolving world of education. This year brought its share of challenges. Whether it was navigating new technologies, supporting leadership through complex decisions, or balancing competing demands, your grit was unwavering. You met each obstacle with courage, resourcefulness, and an commitment to your schools and their communities. And because of that grit, the pearls we’ve created together are extraordinary. From thought-provoking workshops to inspiring connections within our network, every interaction has been a reminder of the power of collaboration and shared purpose. You’ve not only supported your senior educational leaders but have also shaped the culture and outcomes of your schools in profound ways. As we look ahead to 2025, let us carry this spirit of resilience and growth forward. Let us embrace the grit as a necessary part of the process, knowing that through it, we create something truly valuable - not just pearls of wisdom and skill, but the foundations of a thriving educational community. Thank you for your trust, your passion, and your commitment to growing, connecting, and belonging. We are excited to share with you the Center for Educational Innovation and Improvement's 2024-2029 strategic plan. Over the next 5 years we hope to continue and deepen the partnership and improvement work that were the hallmark of CEii's beginning. In this strategic plan we lay out the goals that will guide our work: Goal 1: Presence and Influence  CEii will have a local, regional, and national presence and will be influential through its innovative work in advancing equity, leadership development, and continuous leadership. Goal 2: District- University Partnerships CEii will lead deep and meaningful partnerships with Maryland districts, including growing and sustaining our PGCPS partnership, and will facilitate parnership opportunities between UMD faculty and school systems across the state. Goal 3: Teaching and Learning  CEii will produce a suite of learning tools and experiences focused on leadership development and the understanding and deployment of Improvement Science and other forms of continuous imporvement. Goal 4: Capacity and Sustainability  CEii will operate with the necessary financial resources, staffing, and strategic positioning to attain and maintain organizational sustainability and achieve recognition as an integral and valuable entity within the College of Education and the broader UMD community. We hope you will join us in collaborating and partnering with us to move our goals from the page into practice. In our quest to ensure all students in Maryland and United States have access to the type of public education that ensures they have access to all of the opportunities. A New Year, A New Path In our roles as Executive Assistants in Education, we often find ourselves at crossroads - facing decisions that require bold thinking, creative problem-solving, and commitment to our schools' vision and mission.  These moments define us, not just as professionals, but as leaders shaping the culture and success of our school communities. As we step into 2025, the theme for EAs in Education is inspired by Robert Frost’s timeless poem, 'The Road Not Taken'. This year, we will embrace the journey of choice, courage, and growth that comes from taking paths less traveled.
