No, this is not an episode of black mirror, but a real product. Humane™ , founded by Apple alumni Imran Chaudhri, unveiled their Aipin, a device designed for interacting with large language models, not apps. You talk to it, you do not type. Its operating system, “Cosmos”, is designed to route your queries to the right tools automatically rather as opposed to download and manage apps. With this device, Humane™ ambition is to strip away all the interfaces we have been used to. A few use cases were showcased in the launch video, as “catch me up” which will summarize all messages / emails, or holding food in front of the camera to get in real time nutritional information. The plan is also to get shopping / retail and navigation capabilities. This is a very interesting step towards “real world AI”, and a future where technology disappears - keen to see how this product will change (or not) the future of smartphones. What do you think?
