With COP29 due to commence on Monday in Baku, Azerbaijan, Carbon Brief have collated a really interesting article looking at the key focus for each nation going in to the event. With a packed agenda that will consider climate adaptation, carbon markets and scaling up emissions reductions, amongst other issues, the annual global climate summit is focused on driving global collaboration to fight climate change. Attended by all 198 parties, the convention has to cover a lot of ground in a short space of time and understandably, the nations involved are facing a broad range of climate related issues and priorities, that they hope will be addressed. The priorities this year range from finance issues (NCQG in particular!) and the launch of Article 6, through to the Paris Agreement deadline and the ‘global stocktake’. As with any COP, there’s going to be a lot of compromise involved but it will be interesting to see what the outcome is next week! https://lnkd.in/eXsS73ZU #COP29 #ClimateChange #NetZero #NCQG #ParisAgreement
