THE ESSENCE MEDITATION
Recently I have had women and men reaching out and asking whether I run meditation sessions.
Whenever I hear this, I wonder " What mental chatter are you tired of shutting off? What noise has become too much for you?"
I ask and the answer is "Peace of Mind".
In many cases, the need to ease from sadness, inner conflicts, grief 😔 and all emotions that people tend to label as low levels.
Peace, Calmness, Joy, Happiness are experiences and they are not the ESSENCE of meditation.
The ESSENCE, the HEART of MEDITATION is AWARENESS.
When we sit or walk or lie down or move into our meditation process, we will become aware of our rising thoughts, our emotions, the stories and much more.
Attempting to quieten the mind and believing that the mind should stop is an unresourceful frame to have, it's similar to wanting to be alive without our breaths.
The essence of mediation is to stay with the AWARENESS of one's experiences and distinguish between one self and the experiences.
What does one do with one's awareness?
We stay with the AWARENESS.
The more we deepen our stay with our AWARENESS, we begin to reach a point of ACCEPTANCE, INCLUSION, AGREEING TO OUR EXPERIENCES and then our GRIP on what we want to have as EXCLUSIVE EXPERIENCES begin to dissolve.
We move to a space of AWARENESS that we can direct our inner powers.
I have a body but I am not my body
I have emotions but I am not my emotions
I have desires but they are not me.
I have an intellect but I am not my intellectual.
At times, before we are able to reach this point of meeting our AWARENESS, we may need support to do a quality of cognitive works that helps us to take ownership of our inner world and inner game.
