Generosity Educator I Instructor, Canadian Association of Gift Planners I TEDx Speaker

This conference is not hosted by my organization. There is no *direct* reason I should attend, it's not about "charity fundraising" my focus for 20+ years.....but several years back, I crashed it out of sheer curiosity :) I was welcomed, I found belonging. Not just in charity law peers like Mark Blumberg but BIG thinkers that intersect with our work. A keynote by economist Armine Yalnizyan at a previous ONN conference changed my outlook on my work forever.... My own fundraising conferences were usually under 500 and this conference was really big, the attendees were more diverse ( in every sense of the word ) than I had ever seen before anyone was talking about inclusion.... there were charity CPA's there! (finance staff are like aliens to me, we know they exist but no one sees them ). Hanging out with CPA Ontario peers who care as much about clean audits as I did, tickled my brain. I personally consider this to be the THE most vital gathering for nonprofits and social-good professionals in Ontario because of the way it cuts across the silo's and provides a bigger picture, especially on policy and governance. Fundraising will NOT be the solution; the economy, our country's demographics and the nature of "charity" ( housing, homelessness, healthcare, higher education ) need to be discussed....this is the place to do it. And a discussion based in OUR values; equity, environment, justice and #DecentWork for US and for ALL Leaders, board, program staff, finance and fundraising - there is a place for all here https://lnkd.in/dzFE6HeY Bravo Ontario Nonprofit Network for recognizing that COMMUNITY is the CURE and gathering us again... Will I see you there?

Thanks for sharing this Paul. I've been wanting to reach out to more non-profits here in TO/ON/CA with regards to using data well (a lot of my NP clients have been American), and maybe this conference is the place to start. It's too late for me to submit to speak this year, but if this is annual, I'll try to get into the 2025 conference :)
