Have you been wondering and contemplating whether to embark on your transformative therapeutic journey? Rochelle Frank shares insightful tips on how to prepare for therapy effectively. Here are key takeaways to focus on: 1. Self-Motivation: Understand your reasons for seeking therapy. List pros and cons to clarify your motivations. 2. Define Your Problems: Be descriptive in articulating your challenges. Think behaviorally to paint a comprehensive picture for your therapist. 3. Set Goals: Contemplate your personal 'destination'. What does 'getting better' look like for you? Frame goals with measurable outcomes. 4. Understand Therapist's Approach: Seek clarity on the therapist's treatment methods and approach. Are skills taught for better distress management, or is the focus on gaining insight? 5. Office Policies: Inquire about fees, cancellation policies, and insurance acceptance. Clarify communication availability between sessions. 6. Approach with Open Mind: Familiarize yourself with the therapist's online profile. During the intake, focus on identifying areas for improvement and establishing rapport. Remember, change takes time. Be proud of taking this step toward self-improvement! #TherapyJourney #SelfImprovement #MentalHealthMatters

It is now well documented that when “different” bona fide therapies are compared with each other, there is usually no clinically meaningful difference in client outcomes. Whereas therapists’ outcomes do vary significantly. Therapist factors often account for far more variance in outcome than do treatment methods. The Clinical Skills That Matter: Accurate Empathy (Foundational in MI) Positive Regard (Affirmation a key MI Skill) Genuineness/Congruence (Emphasised in MI 4th Edition) Acceptance (Key to the MI Spirit) Focus (A Key MI Process or Task) Hope (Central to MI - Evoke Hope & Support Self-Efficacy) Evocation (A Key MI Process or Task) Offering Information and Advice (Included in MI - Elicit-Provide-Elicit) So, does MI operationalise a helping relationship? Perhaps MI is not meant to be done instead of other treatments. MI is now commonly combined with other treatments . MI is a way of being and doing whatever else you do in a helping context.

I see a wide range of health conditions-physical, mental & emotional issues. I improve outcomes with a multidisciplinary approach of clinical massage, aromatherapy consultation, self care/wellness, in person & online
Symptom Awareness Part I - Research: behind the scenes - a huge part of my job you may not be aware that I do! 💻 📚 Does your therapist listen, advise, help & support you? This is such an important part of what I offer, above and beyond my physical skills & knowledge as a therapist. In a world where we are increasingly having to talk to chat bots, fill in online forms, have appointments by phone or, when we do see an actual person, find ourself on the clock with 5-10 minutes to explain our story, listening, advice & support is a crucial part of my role as your massage & aromatherapist. Yet it’s a part of my job that many don’t realise is there. I am not a counsellor, a consultant or a medical doctor but I am there to support you - and a big part of this is to listen & hear you, make connections based on what you tell me & then help you by researching advice for you to help you make more informed decisions about your healthcare. #clinicalmassage #massagetherapist #conditions #healthcare #wellbeing #advice #support #btec #degree #behindthescenes #howcanihelpyou

The initial meeting sets the tone for the therapeutic journey. At the Institute for Relational Well-being (IRWB) - where we specialize in relational therapy while addressing a wide range of concerns - we've found that an effective consultation should: 🪴 Clarify the therapist's approach and expertise 🪴 Address the client's primary concerns 🪴 Discuss expectations and goals 🪴 Assess the potential for a good therapeutic fit 🪴 Outline clear next steps We train our therapists to use this time efficiently, balancing information gathering with building a strong alliance. By prioritizing these elements, we aim to set a strong foundation for successful outcomes, tailored to each client's unique needs. Email admin@irwbgroup.com for more information or to schedule your FREE 15-minute consultation. #TherapeuticAlliance #MentalHealthSupport #RelationalTherapy #WellbeingJourney

Therapists: you know those 10-15 minute consultations? We think they could be the key to a more efficient, effective, and fulfilling therapy practice. Many therapists view initial consultations as lost billable hours. In reality, a well-executed consultation: ⌛Saves time. ✌ Reduces stress. 💔 Prevents the discomfort of realizing post-initial-session that there’s a client-therapist mismatch. Consultations should be full of empathy and clarity- after all, you’re engaging with someone vulnerable, seeking help. Start with an overview like, "Thank you so much for reaching out. This call is an opportunity for us to connect and see if I'd be a good fit for you and your needs. First, let's start off with some logistics like your availability for sessions, the setting you prefer, and finances." Remember, you're laying the groundwork for successful therapy. You’re aligning therapeutic goals and logistics, leading to meaningful and effective sessions. And you’re building relationships that work for both you and your clients. Embrace these consultations. They're not just about filling your calendar; they're about enriching your practice and creating fulfilling therapeutic journeys. #TherapyConsultations #MentalHealth #TherapistInsights

If you feel apprehensive about your first group therapy session, here are 3 ways to prepare and make the most out of your sessions. 1️⃣ Be clear on the group rules Take a moment to understand what is expected of all group members, if you are unsure then speak to the group analyst leading the group beforehand. They will be able to reassure you and answer any questions. 2️⃣ Set your personal goals Think about what you'd like to achieve through group therapy. You will have discussed these with the group analyst before joining the group, these may change over time but having clear goals when you start is a good idea 3️⃣ Prepare to share Group therapy is a collaborative effort. Embrace the power of sharing. Be open about your experiences and, equally important, lend a listening ear to others. The richness of the group lies in the exchange of perspectives and stories. Just one more thing 👇 Confidentiality is key to group therapy. What's shared in the group stays in the group. This creates a safe space for vulnerability and authentic connection. We are a network of experienced and highly qualified group analysts running groups online and in person. You can check which groups have availability on our websites. #mentalhealth #therapy #grouptherapy #wellbeing
