Each year I foster a dog at my local animal rescue. It’s a small commitment that brings immense rewards, not just for the animal, but for me—and the wider community. Fostering is more than just providing a temporary home for a dog in need. It plays a key role in the work that rescues do to save lives. By opening your home to a dog, you’re directly supporting the mission of the rescue by creating space for other animals in need and helping them develop social skills and become more adoptable. But beyond the tangible benefits to the rescues and animals, fostering also has a profound impact on us as humans. It challenges us to be more compassionate, patient, and empathetic. It reminds us that we can make a difference in the lives of others, even in small ways. And it deepens our connection to the community, showing us how we’re all interconnected. I’ve seen firsthand how fostering helps transform not just the dogs, but the people who care for them. Every year, I walk away with new lessons in kindness, resilience, and the joy of giving without expecting anything in return. If you’ve ever thought about fostering, I encourage you to give it a try! Whether it’s a few weeks or a few months, you’re not just changing the life of an animal—you’re enriching your own life, too. #FosterDog #AnimalRescue #Volunteering #GiveBack #CompassionInAction

As more people are exploring our website and making profiles to start volunteering in the community, we'd like to continue the Intro to Volunteer Peterborough 105. We have a lot of volunteer opportunities on the site, and we know that very few of you have the time to browse through every single one to assess if it's something you can or want to do. That's why we have these wonderful filters. If you have an account, the filters automatically recommend the best possible matches for you, although you are free to check out what else is available. "Skills Requested" is self explanatory. You can scroll through the list and tick every sill you bring to the table. Cleaning, Animal Care, and Handling Money, for example. These preferred skills may match you up with a one-shot "Clean Jackson Creek" or a weekly "help look after the Squirrels at Squirrel Haven Rescue." And there's no rules stating you can't sign up for both! "Causes Benefitted" further narrows the options. If your passion is the environment, it will pull out all the agencies that are endeavouring to save the planet. Combining the Causes and Skills will get very specific results! Again, it's our goal to make selecting opportunities as quick and painless as setting up a playlist. By stating your preferences up front, we make recommendations that match those preferences. Because your time is valuable. We want you to make the most of it. Peruse what's available today! https://buff.ly/3rsamzk Remember: It's ALWAYS FREE for Volunteers! #VolunteerRecruitment #VolunteerHours #CommunityBuilding #Tutorial

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆’𝘀 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗧𝗶𝗽 - 𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗔𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁 𝗮 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆, and we want to shout it from the rooftops, so please share this post with others!📣🐾 This day is all about raising awareness for the incredible animals waiting in shelters for their forever families. By adopting instead of shopping for a pet, you're not just giving a deserving furry friend a second chance - you're literally saving a life. The reality is that in 2023, according to Shelter Animals Count (https://bit.ly/3wdLrCe), approximately 6.5 𝑚𝑖𝑙𝑙𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑚𝑎𝑙𝑠 𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑑 𝑠ℎ𝑒𝑙𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑠, and only around half get adopted. The others? Well, we don't like to think about it. 💔 But YOU can change those heartbreaking odds! Adopting from your local shelter, humane society, or rescue group is one of the most impactful things you can do to combat pet overpopulation and homelessness. We've written & hosted some amazing articles & webinar about saving lives, overpopulation and kitten basics - check out the links below! Our true purpose in life? Giving back to nature! We are natural born consumers and we need a lot of care and attention. Therefore if we can do it, giving back is an empowering and eye opening experience. Our personal mission, goal and purpose in life is different from one person to another, we're all here to fulfil a different purpose. But there is a common purpose that is shared between all of us and that is giving back to nature, looking after the environment, animals and one another. In this way we are giving back to nature. This is a common duty and it requires systems and processes in place, but recycling for example is a good example of looking after the environment, giving to animal protection is a good charity and doing jobs that support others is a good way to give back to others. So this adds value to who we are and gives us a mature vision in life. Giving back is our common purpose.

As Tanka Fund COO Arnell Abold Abold explains in this video, the more land caretakers have, the larger and healthier the herds can be. Buffalo thrive with room to roam — each one needs several acres to live naturally and freely, not permanently confined to a corral. That’s why managing Buffalo means ensuring there’s enough land for every animal. Tanka Fund works to make this possible by providing resources for appropriate fencing and land maintenance. Your support makes this vision possible — reconnecting Buffalo to their rightful place on the land with Native caretakers. 🌿 Join the movement at tankafund.org/donate 🦬 #TankaFund #BuffaloConservation #SupportNativeRanchers #WildlifePreservation #ProtectTheBuffalo #SustainableRanching #NativeAmericanHeritage #EcoFriendlyFarming #BuffaloFencingProject #ConservationEfforts #WildlifeProtection #SupportIndigenousCommunities #BuffaloRestoration #WildlifeSupport #CulturalPreservation #IndigenousLandManagement #HelpSaveTheBuffalo #BuffaloHeritage #SustainableAgriculture #LandsLivesEconomies #Buffalo #Bison #TheReturn #NativeAmerican #ClimateRestoration #CommunityEmpowerment #EnvironmentalSustainability #BuffaloRanching #ClimateSmart

“No Mow May has now become Can’t be Arsed August” How 𝗻𝗼𝘁 to create change. 😳 This is a story about a community coming together to take action on the environment. But not in the way you might expect.
