We always wonder what makes people buy breed dogs. 🤷🏻♀️ Especially when these people are genuine dog lovers but insist on getting a foreign breed like a German shepherd, Husky, or Retriever? Mind you they do this by paying thousands of rupees and a majority of them are unaware about the enormous amount they’ll be spending on that foreign breed dog for the entirety of its lifetime (that is, if they don’t abandon the dog). So what motivates these dog lovers or attracts them towards breeds? Is it just about looks? A misconception that they won’t be naughty or fall sick? A bias about being regarded a certain way in society? Yes, breeds have certain traits like guarding hard-coded into their genes - but ALL dogs are unquestionably loyal once you establish a bond with them. Also, if you’ve gone to a backyard breeder or “pet shop” - you can assume they just are making puppies with little concern for health, much less trying to produce quality animals. Why should you care? Because puppies are dying on the road and nobody cares!! Every day there are 10 news stories of street dogs beaten to death, thrown from buildings, and taken away in hordes by nagar nigam to be dumped in forests because residents of societies are sick of dirty “stray dogs” barking at their perfect breed dogs. Barking?? Our egos have shrunk to the point where we are irked by street dogs barking and take to extreme violence in order to “teach them a lesson”. Who is the real animal? Dogs are dogs. You are a monster if you differentiate between them. Breed or no breed they will love you the same. In fact, a “saadharan, local, desi, country dog” will be smarter, healthier, and more grateful to be brought home. One is through intentional mating often torture for mother dogs who are made to give babies over and over again for profit. The other is born naturally, with all the qualities that “dogs” inherit from their ancestors including affection, loyalty, and intelligence, that come under vehicles, suffer, lose their limbs, and die. #thisneedstoend #nomore50 #worldstrayanimalsday

Dogs rule, right?! They have adapted to so many of our human ways and yet, they also have amazing abilities that we don't! #DYK dogs are also left or right-pawed? After breeding my first litter of guide dog puppies, I started wondering why people want dogs, what their role is in our lives, and if we pup breeders are doing it right. It's critical for dog breeders to understand what motivates people to get dogs so that we can breed dogs that are suitable for humans.
