Are We Calculating TACOS Wrong? TACOS (Total Advertising Cost of Sales) is a crucial metric for brands on Amazon. But are we calculating it correctly? What is TACOS? TACOS = (Advertising Spend / Total Sales) x 100 20% TACOS means $0.20 spent on advertising for every $1 in sales The Hidden Issue: Amazon doesn't include promotions in total sales calculations. Example: ● Product price: $20 ● 10% coupon applied ● Amazon reports $20 sale, not $18 If you sell $100K with a 10% coupon, net sales are $90K, but Amazon reports $100K. With $15K in ad spend, industry-standard TACOS is 15K/100K = 15%. Adjusted TACOS should be 15K/90K = 16.6%. This adjusted calculation offers a better understanding of your ads efficiency and how coupons impact your bottom line.
