Creating a diagram and building a physical model are often seen as distinct processes in architecture, each with its unique approach and purpose. In the case of White Plains Hospital, the design team sought to make a unique tool for understanding the application of interior building materials. This model blurs the boundary between diagram and model, creating an “x-ray skeleton” of the building to explore the relationships of spaces and their material palettes.
