Students: Demand Fair Pay! I made $6k/month interning. (Don’t stop reading here!) This isn’t a weird brag. Let me explain why: Before making $6k, I interned for $5/h for 1 year ⬇️ 1st Year: Unpaid, 40 hours/week, 3 months long 2nd Year: Unpaid, 20 hours/week, 3 months long 3rd Year: $10/hour, 40 hours/week, 6 months long Equals = $5/hour, 35 hours/week, for 1 whole year What changed? ❌I stopped believing “I just wanna gain experience!” ✅I started expecting fair $$$ for the value I create. It’s not about the money though. It’s about being fairly treated. Being given respectful pay. Being seen as an asset. Being appreciated. Valuing Yourself! This change will change everything for you! Happy to connect and help any students reading this! P.S. And don’t be ashamed to start small - I did too! :) #fairpay #Internship #Studentvoices #paytransparency 🔔 Enjoyed this post? Today wraps up my 10-week internship at CampusESP in Operations. In the spirit of the office, I thought I’d reflect on the company goals as I offboard: 1. 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝗻. I’ve honestly been spoiled from working here. Watching a company truly care about its employees (and put money and time where its mouth is!) has raised my standards for what I should expect from management. I’ve watched leadership genuinely listen to and consult members of their team for big decisions, and everyone tries to make themselves approachable — my co-intern, Sammi Chai, and I even got to have breakfast with co-founder/CEO Dave Becker! I’ve learned a lot from everyone, but in particular wanted to highlight my managers Jobi John, Brianne Alvarez, and Dan Combs for the time and care they put into training me and Sammi, supporting us when we had questions, and serving as mentors for us. 2. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝘆. I’ve been thinking a lot about this as Sammi and I tackled a larger-scheme data project regarding our customers that culminated in a presentation to several teams/leadership and co-founder/CTO James Bright. It’s so easy to get lost in a sea of numbers, but I’ve been reminded constantly of two things. Firstly, any data project should be human-driven and inform human-efforts. Every data point is a person, and at every point in the process Sammi and I tied our work back to: What core problem are we trying to solve? The results need to be human efforts, and I'm excited to see our work drive personalized support to customers. Secondly, I've seen that there is no dollar amount that can be put on connections - this team cares deeply about its customers, and their customers care deeply in return. 3. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝘄𝗲𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲. Sammi and I both started our internships at the company summit this May in Philadelphia. What an incredible privilege it was to meet countless admin in higher ed who had taken time off of work to come talk passionately about CampusESP, network with other colleges, and think creatively about how to make the college experience better for students and parents. I attended talks and listened in on discussions about targeting First Gen/Low Income Families, International Families, Students of Color, and more. What emerged was many creative solutions to very human problems. I am so lucky to have gotten a taste of a growth company - while the work was hard and the deadlines were fast, the payoff felt incredible. So, tl;dr is, thank you for an amazing 10 weeks! I have learned so much and am excited to see this company grow.

𝐈𝐓 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬: 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐠𝐚𝐩? The competition for skilled talent in IT is intensifying. Gen Z Takes Over the Workplace Gen Z, born 1997-2012, often finished internships remotely. They missed side-by-side learning crucial for early career growth. With hybrid schedules and half-empty offices, many younger workers struggle to form genuine relationships. This generation needs more guidance on workplace norms. Gen Z wants meaning, mentorship, and purpose. They desire security and the chance to matter, and they're vocal about it. https://lnkd.in/g8sUdAYu

We’re celebrating National Intern Day with H5's #OneOfAKIND summer interns, Natalie and Colin. In just one month, these superstars have demonstrated a love for PR and immersed themselves in all things H5, from staffing client events to rocking media relations. When asked about their time at H5, Colin and Natalie shared their experiences through the lens of H5’s core values. ⭐ Kindness: “From the second we walked into the office, the team welcomed us with open arms. Getting to know everyone in the work environment and on a personal level has been valuable for our young professional careers.” ⭐ Creativity: “Agency H5’s foundation of open-mindedness allows us to feel not only comfortable but encouraged to share our ideas.” ⭐ Integrity: “H5 creates a space for new employees to learn and grow. They have proven that mistakes can lead to redirection and that redirection pushes growth.” ⭐ Passion: “The teams we have been a part of have brought a passionate energy to everything they do. We’ve found that H5’ers are just as excited to teach us as we are to learn.” ⭐ Hustle: “Being a part of an environment where teammates take initiative and have a “yes, and” attitude motivates us to bring our bests selves to work.” #NationalInternDay #AgencyLife
