Inventory Replenishment Strategies: 1. High-Demand, Perishable Products: Maintain a safety stock and implement the FIFO (First-In-First-Out) method. 2. High-Demand, Non-Perishable Products: Establish a reorder point and use the EOQ (Economic Order Quantity) method. 3. Low-Demand, Perishable Products: Adopt a Just-In-Time (JIT) approach by ordering closer to the demand date. 4. Low-Demand, Non-Perishable Products: Implement a Min-Max system, maintaining inventory between specified minimum and maximum levels.

Material rejection takes place not only at the time of receiving from supplier but also at the production line. The material may get rejected as a part of a faulty unit which does not meet the product quality standards at any shop or at the end of the assembly line. As a result, raw materials consumed also get wasted. While it is important for production to meet its OTIF target, it is essential for them to keep track of rejection as well. Wondering why? Given below are 4 reasons: 1. Availability of planned product quantity to consumer. 2. Extra consumption of raw materials which may eventually lead to a shortage later on for items which have longer lead times. 3. Buffer stocks will be consumed to meet customer demand in case demand is not met through fresh production. 4. Production losses will incur with the shortage of raw material.
