𝗜 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗯𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗽 𝗺𝘆 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗵 𝗖𝗼-𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿... 🇿🇦 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 But then I realised that the Springboks are a perfect example of the power of teamwork, and gives me a perfect opportunity to wax lyrical about a team driven by an ultimate purpose. As many know, I bang the drum hard when it comes to teamwork and how it has the power to transform. Also, when Harry Evans and I set up TwelveTwentyFive, we have said we want to be inspired by elite teams as we look to scale. Well I'll take inspiration from the Springboks. 🏆 The Springboks are the most successful rugby team when it comes to the World Cup with 4 wins, but are maybe not as storied as the All Blacks (a team with probably one of history's greatest legacies.) But the Springboks have shown in France that an unwavering belief in a higher purpose helped galvanise the team (and a nation) to produce an unbeatable will to win in the tightest of circumstances. Were they better on the day than France, England or the All Blacks over the last 3 rounds? Maybe not. Did they want (or need) to win more than those 3 great teams? yes. But as Mike Henson wrote on the BBC Sport website about the final, "New Zealand wanted the win, South Africa needed to win." The team has transcended just being a sports team, its a true symbol of possibility and that purpose has driven the team forward to greatness. And the driving force behind it? A leader who understands the team is bigger than anyone outside of South Africa could understand. Siya Kolisi, is rightly respected as a outstanding leader, and understands the power the team has on inspiring a nation, and how the team can use the nation for inspiration. "This team just shows what you can do. As soon as we work together, all is possible, no matter in what sphere. In the field or in offices, it shows what we can do. I am grateful for this team."
