Nowadays, over 1/3 of a typical restaurant’s orders are routed through delivery platforms. Yet, restaurants lack a comprehensive understanding of the customers behind these orders. Delivery giants like DoorDash and Uber Eats don’t share customer info with restaurants beyond their first name. At Hang, we've cracked the code for attributing these orders to specific customers, feeding that data into CRMs, and being able to offer loyalty program incentives for those third-party purchases. There’s tremendous long-term value that lies in understanding customers holistically. Knowing where, when, and through what channels they order is paramount. Once QSRs see the entire spectrum of customers’ orders, they can effectively strategize bring customers directly back through incentives like: → offering fewer points for third-party orders → allowing reward redemption only for direct transactions → providing bonus points for a limited period through third-party platforms. Furthermore, while many restaurants may hesitate to incentivize customers for ordering via a third party rather than dining with them directly, they need to remember one thing: Third-party delivery platforms are here to stay. If restaurants want to stay competitive, they need to find ways to incentivize customers to choose them over the hundreds of other options the next time they’re scrolling through a delivery app. By being able to attribute orders via these apps to specific customers, the customers will be able to recognize that purchasing from a particular restaurant provides them additional value, increasing the likelihood they’ll choose them.
