I have been asked to comment this year's Single's Day festival and what are the trends. I believe this is a real test for all the participants - whether it is consumers, merchants, platforms, solution providers, or the regulators. The outcome maybe surprising and big changes are brewing. Here are six trends I want to point out: 🏁 The uprising challengers such as Bytedance’s Douyin, POIZON to existing players; short video platforms are enjoying the 'winner-takes-all' moment. 🏁 The conservative consumers who prefer to spend for durability, efficacy, domestic alternatives, and great value. 🏁 The storming of AIGC technology helping merchants to cut costs, improve efficiency of marketing, and improve customer experience; while also a wide-spread of mis-information and cheap satisfaction. 🏁 The 'ice-breaking' between major e-com platforms such as the iconic milestone for Taobao to accept WeChat Pay, JD to accept Alipay 🏁 The grand stimulus plan by the China government to create more demands by lowering interest rates, and the support for middle-class citizens on property and mortgages. 🏁 The irreversible trend of de-centralized online traffic distribution (Little Red Book, Douyin, WeChat...) mechanism, and the bottleneck of traffic growth. Each of above trend brings unique opportunities and challenges to all participants, and that's why I think Single's Day will be a real test for everyone - whether the participants have chosen a right strategy, done enough, or even bought enough.
