Career success is the primary motivator for today’s college students. It drives their choice of where to enroll and what to study, and plays a pivotal role in determining whether students are satisfied with the education they receive. So how can #highered institutions help students achieve career success? And what role does labor market insight play? Those are the questions we’ll explore in our upcoming webinar with Dr. Tana Hicks of Dallas College. Don’t miss out: https://lnkd.in/egZZpDQP

This week, we had the privilege of visiting several of our partner campuses around Texas. A highlight of the trip was getting to speak to a group of students - at their request! - to discuss career opportunities and trajectory upon completion of our curriculum. This conversation highlighted the importance of work-based learning opportunities for students. One student knew exactly what she wanted to do and only needed some input on how to order the steps she plans to take. One student really isn't sure what he wants to do and could benefit from exposure to different environments to see what sparks his interest. Another knows the general field she wants to pursue; while she isn't sure where she wants to focus within that field, she beautifully articulated the work environment that she knows will help her thrive. The more we can provide students the opportunity to engage with the workforce, the more they can align their education choices to pursue the right career, saving both time and money spent exploring. Next week, we will look more at how this serves not only students, but employers as well. #AdvanceCTE #CTEMonth #WorkBasedLearning

Thrilled to share insights gained from exploring strategies tailored for graduate student careers! My background is primarily with undergraduate career services, so this article was a fantastic backgrounder on the unique needs of career services for graduate students. One key difference is the emphasis on accommodating the diverse identities, life roles, and career goals of graduate students, recognizing the need for more nuanced and personalized career development support compared to traditional undergraduate services. #CareerServices #ProfessionalDevelopment #highered https://buff.ly/3vv1wT7

As an industry professional, what advice would you give to Ph.D. students about to graduate? I recently had the privilege of being a panelist at a career panel hosted by the MIT Career Advising & Professional Development Office. We discussed everything from researching the market, building a network, to maintaining a public profile. I've shared my synthesis of the ideas and some memorable Q&A in my latest blog post.
