Pulmonary Fibrosis is a devastating but little-known condition, occurring at a rate comparable to that of Leukemia and other well-known cancers. However, research, treatment, and funding for a cure are significantly lacking, impacting survival rates. While over 80% of Leukemia patients survive five years post-diagnosis, the rate drops below 20% for Pulmonary Fibrosis. Your support is crucial in advancing research and finding a cure. Please click the link to donate and aid our efforts this year. #PulmonaryFibrosis #Research #Support https://lnkd.in/giSFy9vY

Brain tissue donation is a sensitive and very personal issue. However, the chance to further medical research can be a rewarding prospect for many patients and families affected by severe brain illness. The decision to donate your brain to PSP & CBD research creates a long-lasting legacy: one donated brain can support dozens of research projects over many years. Brain banks provide a unique resource for researchers, enabling them to develop their understanding of the diseases and ultimately informing the search for treatments. If brain donation is something you are interested in, PSPA has put together a useful information sheet that provides you with details of how and where you can donate your brain for research. Download it here: https://lnkd.in/gZq6mUia #BrainDonation #MedicalResearch #BrainBank #PSPASupport #PSP #CBD

As a radiation therapist, like many other RTs, I often delivered superficial radiotherapy to treat BCCs and SCCs. While these can occur anywhere on the body, the scalp was one of the most common sites of treatment. I've treated enough of these to have learnt my lesson. Your head has a front row seat to sun damage and needs to be protected. When I was younger and had a luscious head of hair, I didn't even notice, however as my illusions of youth began to fade along with my hairline, it wasn't long until I started to feel the burn. These days, thanks to my sister in law and brother in law, I have a nice collection of hats to keep my head safe from sun damage. Unfortunately treating melanoma isn't as simple as a quick zap of superficial RT. Melanoma is an aggressive disease that despite our array our diagnostic and treatment options, still devastates peoples lives. Surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, all treatments that we deliver to try and combat the aggressive nature of melanoma. Amazing advancements in radionuclide therapy will hopefully add another tool in the oncologists toolkit in the near future. It's an area where we have come so far, but it's still not enough. On March 23rd, I will be participating in the Melanoma March to raise funds and awareness on the impacts of melanoma. By contributing to my fundraising efforts, you'll be making a tangible difference in the fight against melanoma. Your generosity will help fund critical research initiatives, support services for patients and families, and educational programs aimed at promoting sun safety and early detection. Take care of yourselves, especially those scalps! https://lnkd.in/g2AbfY7w
