Another thing nobody was talking about was the amount of rain. ☔️ There seemed to be this notion that Milton would be a very dry storm, but that did not seem to be the case. Every time a storm like this happens, I’m personally reminded of my own experience and pain from Katrina. It’s a deep reminder of the toll these events take on all of us. Katrina took something from me that I will never get back, and every storm brings a kind of depression with it. Please know we understand what you’re going through and the trauma you’re experiencing. Many of you have the self-control of a muppet, so caught up in resisting external control that you don't see how you're being puppeteered by your own emotions. Like a muppet, your feelings deceive you—they urge you to bolt when you should stay, prompt you to yell when listening is wiser, and convince you the issue is others when it might just be you. The irony? You can dodge others' influence yet be jailed by your own sentiments. Anger, fear, and frustration can hijack your choices, crafting decisions you might regret when you finally cool off. By then, it could be too late, and these emotionally charged choices morph into your reputation. Remember, emotions should be indicators, not dictators. They weren't designed to make your decisions; they were meant to signal you, not push you into action. While strong feelings will nudge you, it’s on you to bring judgment, discernment, and wisdom to your responses. It's simple: be the puppet or the puppeteer. I say, cut those emotional strings. Embrace the true freedom that comes with self-mastery.

Hurricane Milton definitely had its own special character. 🌀 I mentioned its persona yesterday, but who could have predicted somewhere between 44-48 tornadoes alongside those massive winds? 🌪️ It was absolutely a wind event. Yes, the flooding was severe, but we can’t ignore the wind claims that will stack up alongside the flood claims. Nobody saw those tornadoes coming, and that certainly wasn’t something we expected to be a major factor. Stay safe and prepared for the recovery ahead, Tribe.
