Today's Parent Involvement Advisory Committee meeting with the Toronto District School Board offered an insightful discussion. One parent shared their frustration regarding the transfer of knowledge to the school council. They expressed difficulty navigating through lengthy 100-page PDF documents when seeking answers to their questions. This experience resonates with similar challenges faced in corporate environments, where detailed process documents are often provided to new team members. However, instead of receiving direct assistance when questions arise, individuals are directed to sift through numerous documents to find answers, resulting in stress and inefficiency. A more constructive approach to fostering productivity involves implementing a thorough and dedicated handover process. Investing in effective knowledge transfer can yield manifold benefits for all parties involved. Simply providing extensive documentation is not a sufficient handover strategy. Letting people read 💯 pages is not handover. #handover #corporateculture

Just popping in to lift up this summary report of the Illinois Power Agency's first year of the Illinois Shine's Mentorship Program. These things often take place off the beaten path, but the Agency is taking small but important steps towards supporting disadvantaged businesses. Blurb from the executive summary below. Here's the link to more resources: https://lnkd.in/gZFYfJpn __ The Illinois Shines Program Administrator developed a Mentorship pilot toward the goal of providing resources to the Approved Vendor (AV) network. The Mentorship pilot included an 8-week program training presentation series provided to 12 Approved Vendors between October 23 and December 18, 2023. The participants, or “mentees”, included 10 Equity Eligible Contractors (EECs), 6 small businesses, 4 minority-owned businesses, 1 veteran-owned Business, and 1 disabled-owned business. The goal of the pilot was to equip less experienced AVs with Program knowledge and skills to successfully participate. The presentation series covered several key topics including program requirements, application submission processes and procedures, marketing best practices, consumer protection, and Program resources.

CCCAOE’s Spring 2024 Call for Breakout Session Proposals is open! Deadline to Submit: January 26, 2024 The theme for 2024: Shaping a Sustainable Future for California’s Diverse Workforce Your CCCAOE professional development planning committee for the Spring 2024 Conference has aligned the conference strands with Vision 2030 and the feedback you provided in the 2023 Survey. We are looking for proposals focusing on the Adult Learner, Student-Centered Strategies, Work-based Learning, and the Future of Work. We want to HIGHLIGHT the tremendously innovative work happening all across the state. CCCAOE invites proposals that foster discovery and problem-solving through idea-sharing and community building. We strongly encourage proposals that include a panel of presenters, voices of students, and sessions that provide practical tools and hands-on learning to take back to campuses. The sessions should be INNOVATIVE, FRESH, and ENGAGE the audience. Presenters should seek to amplify the how and why of practices, strategies, or models and to facilitate reflection and engagement that helps translate VISION into communities of practice—ultimately guiding and inspiring the actionable work for our members back to campuses. We will accept 30 well-rounded, impactful sessions for the 6 strands listed below. All Breakout Sessions will be held on Thursday, April 25, 5 from each strand. Change Management Requires Standardization In K12 education there's so much standardization in how to deal with curriculum, instruction, assessment and more. What is often overlooked is the need for standard process and procedures when implementing a new community engagement system. Community engagement, while an appreciated asset at both the campus and central office level, is often overlooked when establishing standards for onboarding, engaging and tracking the different stakeholders helping your schools and students. Take volunteer management as an example. From our experience working with K12 organizations, they often do not have district guidelines and policies for volunteer onboarding. If they do exist the processes around registering, screening and approving have not be put in place to follow these guidelines. When processes are in place they haven't been optimized to simplify and streamline the onboarding steps that volunteers must take. This in turn leads to lower levels of participation, and higher levels of frustration and confusion for volunteers and staff. If your district is going to implement a community engagement solution make sure you design the processes for onboarding, engaging and tracking your stakeholders. This will ensure you effectively operationalize your goal of greater, more impactful engagement. #communityengagement,
